"How many Barnhizers are on the floor?"

There was a 35-second period (from about 7:26 to 6:51) last night where Barnhizer appeared to completely take over the game. Somehow he only scored one point, but he was everywhere, and after he missed a dunk, he was so determined to get the ball back that he practically grabbed the ball out of Ivisic's hands. It was beautiful. His offense was shaky last night, but it might have been his best defensive performance so far this year. I doubt he'll win Defensive Player of the Year this year, but I think all-defensive team looks like a lock if he stays healthy. My hope is Nicholson gets some consideration on that team as well.

He’s like the poster child for the all around player. Plays point, shoots 3’s, backs up down low, penetrates, steals, rebounds, assists, defends 1-4. I am convinced he would win a chili cook off competition.

He needs to work on his dunks.

That was a great moment, partially because it was a good bro moment laughing as part of a celebration, but also because the fans were just cheering and pumped and the players were just laughing and dapping. It was a big and strong win, but nothing worth going nuts over. Business. What we expect.

At the Rutgers game last year, he was similarly amazing in person. He’s as polished as they come; it is one of the benefits of recruiting coaches’ sons.

I met a couple of posters at the game; the Rutgers fans around us asked us “how we found that Barnhizer kid”?

Long story short: he is arguably Northwestern’s greatest basketball player from Indiana since Trai Essex (although he only played football for NU). Or McIntosh. Who else is on the list?

If he had the time. I think he played 45 minutes the other night
