IDK, but the hole we are in by hiring museum piece guy is really deep. We need at least 12-15 new guys ready to play at the SEC level, and that isn't happening. We'll probably waste at least two more years before replacing Mainieri.

There is a portal tracker on this site for free. But like 10+ transfers to a couple commitments.

Mainieri was not the type of coach who could relate well to today's NIL type players before he left LSU and the years away made it only worse.
Looks more and more like we made a self-destruction hire to me. But, I agree, several more years will be wasted before a correction is made.

Our next hire needs to be someone with a connection to our past success. L.P. would be my choice. Look at what CCU is doing with one of their own. L.P. has shown he can coach, he was part of our success and certainly understands the expectations here.

I see another pitcher left. Does it really matter when you give up like 15 runs a game?

Henry Ford (Virginia) entered the portal and will probably follow Brian O'Connor to Mississippi State. Yet, I would really like to see a player like Ford in a Gamecock uniform.

I could be wrong but I don't think massive roster turnover every season and trying to build a team from the portal is healthy for any team in any sport. I guess a team might catch lightning in a bottle one year and put together a roster that wins big but I don't think relying on the portal is a recipe for sustained success.

I get it that baseball is different, but can you really re-make an entire team in one year and be successful? And, btw, anything will look better next year than what we did this year... unless we don't win a game in the SEC.

14 outgoing transfers including 7 pitchers. Seems like a lot to recover.

No, not without a plan and many good players (see the USC softball team, our new coach had a plan and brought players with her).

Excluding some kind of miracle, it's a forgone conclusion that next season will be more trash.

I agree, but what choice do we have? If he Starts a wonderful rebuild through recruiting he's probably 3 or 4 years out. Portal has to be done ths year at least

What choice do you have if your roster doesn’t have the horses to compete. You cull the dead weight, build for next season through the portal/juco, and beyond from the high school ranks

I guess the concept of developing talent on your roster is dead. Every player on the team was recruited to play on the team so they must have been good HS players. Is/was the talent evaluation so bad that no talented players are on the roster?

The recruiting classes under Kingston were ranked very poorly for the last few years
