What if it’s like 2006 all over again? What if we sweep September? What if we win 10 games?
Is that good enough to get Chris Ash a raise?

The big difference between 2006 and 2019 is that we saw great improvement in 2004 and 2005 leading up to 2006. The past two years we have dramatically regressed. What if it’s like 2006 all over again? What if we sweep September? What if we win 10 games?

Yup, 8 wins get him a raise. 10 wins gets him a huge raise
2 wins will get him a one year extension. What if it’s like 2006 all over again? What if we sweep September? What if we win 10 games?

Let's not jump the gun here. Remember what followed the 4-8 2017 season?Yup, 8 wins get him a raise. 10 wins gets him a huge raise
@rutgersguy1 should be on the compensation and hiring committee for RU athletics.Don’t give long term guaranteed financial commitments for short term results. It’s the norm but I rail against it here all the time. Point you to former Colorado HC Mike Macintyre as just one example. Nice contract bump and boost off one big year and then fizzled thereafter and was fired. If they want to walk let them you’re likely not losing the next Saban or Meyer.
Hobbs adding two years to Ash's contract on top of the three he had remaining?[roll]Let's not jump the gun here. Remember what followed the 4-8 2017 season?
there is zero chance Ash wins 6 games. Vegas does not get too much wrong. Bet with the odds.2.5 to 3 wins Max.Even with 6 wins I wouldn’t raise or extend him. But he can stay another year.

End of November goodbye press Conference.
after the empty stands this season, doubtful 4 wins will save him.Yeah, very little chance he gets 6. But with some breaks and luck he may get 4 or 5. That would be worst case scenario because he may get retained.

that would be 11 wins in 4 seasons with over 35 losses.
In Hobbs' own words, Ash needs to show "significant improvement." 3 Wins would not be considered as significant improvement by most people here. But, if Ash reeled off 3 wins at the end of the season against Ohio State, Michigan State and Penn State, wonder how some would feel about 3 wins. The probability of that happening, however, is zero.My biggest worry is that he'll back into 3 wins, and Hobbs will see that as progress, and lets the disASHter era run amok for another year.

IMO 4 or higher and show improvement against the big schools.Al, forget about a raise. The question is how many wins will be needed to take the pressure off of him and get him off the hot seat lists that will be put out from several sources prior to next season.

Doubt many coaches will get to 10 wins here. That would require winning 8, and 2 of Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State.I doubt if Ash will ever get to win 10 games here. He wins 7 games and a blueblood school will poach him ........... and BlockR's new complaint will be how come Hobbs didn't have the money to keep him.

Consistent 6-7 wins seasons, with an 8 or 9 win season once every 4 or 5 years would be a success.
Simple. If he wins 25 games this year, we should extend his contract. :sunglasses:
