How much vacation do you get at your job?

Also-how long have you been there and how long have you been in the workplace? I thought I'd ask those, as the first question isn't quite as relevant without knowing questions two and three.

4 weeks (20 days) and 10 holidays. 26 years in this industry, about 3 years with current employer. I generally don't take 100% of my vacation.

No carry over.

4 weeks a year vacation. 10 set holidays. Paid sick leave as well. Vacation and sick leave carry over, but vacation has a use it or lose it limit (don't remember what it is, but it is a lot). Also get an hour of comp time for every hour of "overtime" beyond 40 hours a week even though I am a FLSA exempt employee. Comp hours have a 180 day use it or lose it provision.

18 years of service so far.

Sounds identical to my father-in-law's setup at Occidental Petroleum.

6 weeks of vacation and 5 discretionary days. I've been with the company 37 years. We cannot rollover vacation or discretionary days. It's a "Use them or lose them" policy. I'll retire in January (if I can hold out that long) and will get my six weeks of vacation before I start collecting my pension in March.

156 hours a year. Can carry over 156 but beyond that is use/lose. 104 sick leave which can be carried over and is not limited. Late next year I hit 15 years and will go to 208 hours vacation a year with no change to carry over.

Besides federal holidays, about 14 or 15 weeks.*

*With all but two or three of those dedicated to research, writing, and community projects, since tenure depends on that kinda stuff.

Unlimited sick, vacation or otherwise. However I only eat what I kill so to speak so I would guess I average 12 - 15 utilized vacation days a year, plus a handful of half day Friday's during the summer.

Been at my current place of employment for roughly 5 months, and in the industry for a little over 12 years.

31 years in the industry and my current job. 3 weeks of vacation. 10 holidays and unlimited six leave...but I'm sure at some point it would move to short-term disability...hope I never find out!

Got offered a job at an Oklahoma non-profit not long ago featuring zero vacation days (you accumulate 4 hours per paycheck). Not sure how common that is.

Unlimited vacation and sick days and can come and go as I please. Although being straight commission (renewable business) I am rearely fully off.

Can't ever shut down my computer and unplug.

While in Europe in April I would still have an hour or so of work to do each work day.

A little over 7 years at current employer and same in the industry.

7 weeks vacation
2 weeks of educational time

In reality, I take 2 weeks of vacation and 4 days of education time. No I don't get to bank or sell back my time off. Sucks.

4 weeks PTO, 3 IFM (ill family member), 2 floating holiday. I can carry over 1 week.

I started with 3 weeks and got another after 5 years. in 3 years (10 year mark) I'll get another week.

Just changed jobs...

18 year career and I was at the last place 2.5 years. Accrual system, had effectively 10 holidays and 20-22 vacation days worth of hours banked per year.

The new job has 9 holidays and 'unlimited' vacation... Which means I don't accrue any time and just work it out with my manager. I know how this deal works... Most of the time people in this system rarely take much more than 12-13 days per year in addition to holidays.

Will be 11 years in September.

I get five weeks and 11 holidays.

Time in excess of two weeks rolls into major medical at the end of the year. My time accrues with pay periods though and is otherwise not tied to the calendar year.

I had eight weeks of major medical built up when we switched systems five years ago. The fifth week of vacation I just earned last September. I have not added to major medical since. Wife thinks everything remaining in December should be used to visit her family... She may think differently now that her own hours are greater though (hopefully!).

Despite generous vacation time, I have used a ton of it over the past three years to be with children in hospitals or going out of town to see pediatric specialists.

32 Days with about 10-12 company holidays and you can carry 10 days over. Sick Leave Pool is separate and you can carry all of that you have over. Same place a little over 11 years.
