How cheap? Bourbon whisky and what brand. I do the same occasionally and tonight is one of those nights. Military Special out of the Class VI on post. About $16.00 a half gallon or so.

Usually in the 4-year Beam, Early Times, Heaven Hill, Seagram's 7, Canadian Mist variety. I'm primarily a bourbon guy but have experience with other whiskys as well. Lol.

Cheapest I ever had was Kentucky Tavern, $2.99 for a fifth in 2001. You could see stuff floating in it.

Happy drinking to you, warrior.

This April will be 10 years since I've had one and really haven't missed them at all. Just took some time getting used to drinking water with certain foods. The only time I even give them a second thought is if I see one of the little Cokes in the glass bottles. About 2-3 years ago, I was at B-Dubs after a work function and asked for a refill on my water. They brought me a Sprite and I didn't realize it until after taking a drink. My throat burned like I had swallowed gasoline or something. I can only imagine how I would feel if were to try to drink a whole can now.

3-4 Coke Zeros a day.
Gave up sugar sodas 15+ years ago.
Really don't know the long term health effects from diet soda lots of theories but I don't know what the concrete facts are.
Some claim that fruit juice is bad for you and especially growing kids.
Read a study online that claimed kids should never drink orange apple or grape juice on a daily basis.
I just drink alot period. In the last eight hours I've drank 2 bottles of water 1 coke zero and 1 large coffee

Do you like the smell of coffee?

It’s smells pretty good - it’s just the taste. Unless it’s drown in sweetner and cream, it taste like sweaty 400 lbs soccer mom ***. While guys like Willy love some elephant booty - I just can’t get used to it. And I tried as I know it’s better for me than diet soda.

Reason I asked, there are some people who are apparently predisposed to not liking coffee because of their genetics. But those people don’t like the smell of it either.

The only time I ever drink a regular soda is at Mexican restaurants where they have the old fashioned kind made with sugar (sucrose) instead of corn syrup. I drink a diet soda or light lemonade at lunch. Water or coffee otherwise during the rest of the day. I reserve my liquid calories (500 or so) for wine and beer at night.

For those that quit, how long did it take to lose the headaches?

I drink one a day, water the rest of the time (don't like milk or tea), and would love to cut out soda altogether. But even when I was hitting the gym hard, I'd drink one soda per day. It was the only way I could stick to eating healthy long term.

So how long does that take to wear off?

Sounds like you are having caffeine withdrawal headaches. You can get your caffeine through other healthier sources like power/breakfast bars, some cereals, vitamin waters and dark chocolate (think a square or two per day). Also Bayer and Excedrin contain caffeine but you don't want to take one every day without talking to your doctor. See if one of these can help.

That's what they are for sure. I'd rather not have anything that gives me that reaction when I don't have it on a given day, so I'd almost rather just power through and wait it out instead of replacing it with another source.

Evenings - beer. Even drink beer with dinner.

That's doable then. I usually get grumpy/fatigued around then if I haven't had one yet that day. I don't have a craving for them with every meal or anything, just that one a day.

I was having trouble with that because I was drinking like 5 coffees a day, so I just slowly weened myself off them rather than go cold turkey. Headaches went away pretty quickly. It's not like you're giving up nicotine.

Looking back it was ridiculous. I went to the doctor one time because my thigh was killing me - all the way down to the bone. The doctor had no idea what was wrong with me, but then asked if there was a chance I was dehydrated. I thought about what I had to drink that week - it was nothing but coffee from 7 AM to 5 PM, and then beer with dinner. That's it. I drank a Gatorade and instantly my leg felt better, and then realized I needed to make changes in my life.

I'm a cold turkey guy with nearly everything. If I don't cut myself off completely, I'll slide back into the old habit. Aside from the one soda, I drink at least 4 bottles of water on most days, so I'm hoping to flush it out of my system quickly when I finally do quit. I just dread being a grouch for a week or so.

usually one a day. I don't drink coffee, but like a little caffeine to start my shift. Lot's of times I don't even finish it. Otherwise it's water all day.

One co-worker was nearly in kidney failure, diabetic shock or whatever, his wife, who also works here, said he would drink 12 to 14 ale 8's a day for many years, never drank water. Another dude here had a heart attack at 41 years old. He would also drink a 12 pack plus of ale 8's a day. I know several others who are on meds for high sugar pre diabetes stuff and their vice is drinking 6 plus sometimes 10 or more cokes a day. Ridiculous.

I don’t know if I’ll ever not want a coke completely but I’m serious about never drinking another one.

Probably the most toxic thing we consume on a daily basis

I try not to drink more than 7-8 cans of coke a day. And by coke I mean pop in general. The way I figured, man's got to drink something. May as well be something tasty. Besides I have great life insurance...........

Very, very rarely for me; I'm talking about maybe one soda every 6 months or so. I can't stand the carbonation and that "bite" that it has going down. My longest stretch was going nearly three years without any sort of soft drink. For me, it's liquid poison. I get sick when I eat sugary things.

3 or 4 diet Mt Dew a day, about a gallon of water, a amino acid drink, and a couple protein shakes. Sometimes milk, coffee or a beer.

Same, with coke zeros and diet Dr Pepper cherry of course. I am also drinking a lot of Powerade zero as well as no sugar Gatorade so I don’t get dehydrated.

I did the Coke Zero, Diet Dr Pepper, & Powerade Zero for about 5 yrs. Stopped cold turkey last month. I now only drink La Croix or Bubly, about 3 a day. After a week or so you don't even miss them and the sweetness in the sparkling water helps that sugar craving.
I always drank water throughout the day but now drink a ton more.

One to Two usually, but I'll break from them for a few days and drink unsweet tea with lemon. We have a Coke Freestyle machine in our office free for all the employees to use. I generally fill my yeti about 1/3 with ice then get Diet Dr. Pepper and drink on that all day at the office. If that's out I go for Coke Zero. If i'm out and about and stop at a convenience store i'm getting Diet Dew. Can't get that at work.

Now that I've been trying to drink only water
Damn...
Did it before in early 2000's and list like 20lbs....
Ayce and all these amazing restaurant out here in Sin City put 35lbs in yrs,
Now back in gym, Dr said I'm on that edge where I can do something before it affects my health adversely

its been 10 years........ but I replaced it with sweet tea up until 2 years ago.....

Just water and gatorade for me now. Its amazing how bad soda is on you until you've kicked it for a while. I have accidentally picked up my wife's dr pepper a few years ago and took a sip and spit it out because it tasted like battery acid or something. Ever since then I've made sure to look at the fast food cup to make sure its gatorade / powerade first lol

I used to drink nothing but coke when I was a teenager. Loved the taste. I’ve tries to quit several times, but always end up breaking.

Now I have 1 coffee in the morning and 1-2 16 oz cokes a day, which is a vast improvement on where I was. I actually drink an 8 oz water or 2 a day now as well.

Very little. There are some foods that I like a Coke with, pizza and Mexican food especially.

I drink a lot of water at home, but probably too much sweet tea at restaurants.

More and more studies seem to show that diet sodas are nearly as bad for you as regular. The artificial sweeteners they use are linked to stroke, heart attacks, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, etc. I am probably going to give them up.

For example, three large studies published between 2007 and 2009 found that people who drank diet sodas regularly were more likely to develop type 2 diabetes and had between 30 and 55 percent higher risk of metabolic syndrome (a constellation of health problems that could increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke) than those who didn’t. Two other studies from 2012 further bolstered these results: Researchers linked daily diet soda consumption to about a 45 percent higher risk of heart attack, stroke, and early death in one study of about 2,600 people; and about 30 percent increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke—a less common type of stroke where a ruptured blood vessel or burst aneurysm causes loss of blood flow to the brain—in the other study of 130,000 people.

Rarely but I’ll knock out a NOS or Full throttle when I get to work almost everyday. Then water the rest of the day. I’m pretty sure that’ll be what kills me but wtf ever.

I drink one 8 ounce Red Bull every morning. It used to be two (one on the drive to work) but I replaced that one with a Phocus Water (which is sparkling water with caffeine).

I drink about 100 ounces of water a day but have found myself having one coke with a meal.

This very thing happened to me driving today. I almost threw up and the heartburn/acidy taste started immediately. It was like my body rejected it. I think it made her think a little bit about what she was putting in her body. It was Diet Coke, by the way.

Essentially stopped drinking sodas in 1999. Immediately lost about 15 pounds. I may have one per month when other options are low. Hate sweet tea. Water and unsweetened tea are my go to drinks, when wine and beer are not available.

alls I know is that when i want any kind of soft drink, i’m sure to say coke

coca-cola = coke
pepsi = coke
r.c. cola = coke
diet coke = coke
sprite = clear coke
7-up = coke
chek cola = coke
big K = coke
dr. pepper = coke m.d.

Me too except for Ale 8 which gets called by name.
