Staring at 75 on the 22nd. In the words of the immortal Mickey Mantle, " if I knew I'd live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. "
Am I the oldest here? I can't get used to seeing seniors with scooters, wheelchairs and walkers and realizing most are younger than me. Finding it difficult to combat isolation. Looking forward to the season so I can start some arguments. ;)

You got me beat, and I’m not upset about losing! Turned 58 in May. Some general wear and tear and trying to eat better but otherwise it’s good. Looking forward to the season too, but summer fun comes first.

So I’m playing in a tourney with my dad 6 years ago. We play against a guy who seemed to be in pain the whole time. My dad said are you ok. The guy said when you are my age you will hurt as well. My dad asked how old he was. He said 77. We both laughed. I said. My dad is 88. He is 94 now and we played in the same tourney this June that we have played for over 30 years. My dad has stopped counting birthdays and says you are as old or young as you think you are.

Currently 57, staying as active as possible and working thru the aches and pains of getting back in shape. Weight bounces up and down per season I can get outdoors. Things don't hurt as much when lighter(should have listened to you older guys on here saying that many many years ago). Taking my 94 year young mom's advice and just keep moving. She can't sit still for more than 5 minutes. Still doing wash and cooking and gardening. Age is just a number so just keep moving and get involved in what brings you joy.

I'll be 69 (nice!) in September. No real physical or mental complaints, just the usual suspects, all manageable.

I do find that the deaths of classmates from HS and college, or former work colleagues, even if people I wasn't close with, tend to make me sadder than it used to. A little "survivor's guilt" in a sense, perhaps.
I guess my little pea brain thinks that once a person hits say, ~63, they should be exempt from death until 80, and then we can resume normal programming. Kind of like the idea some put forward about seniors being exempt from RE taxes, or SS taxes?! Mother Nature has not passed that bill, and apparently never will!

But, as others have said, blessings counted and much to look forward to, including some fun trips being planned. Stay calm and Nittany on!

Marshall, you're one of those whom one can disagree with and yet come away with an increased respect for. Have always liked your posts.

You're only two years older than me, so you're still very young(y)

I am very fortunate -- I'm hangin' in !

My heart attack was May 14,1999 and I waited 3 days to see a Dr. - family obligations got in the way. 6 operations on my heart with 4 stents in my Right Coronary Artery. No more arteries left, the Doc says open next if any problems.
Cancer diagnosis in 2020 with 28 radiation sessions - now cancer free 5 years out.
19 total operations - left knee twice (football, what else), toes, left elbow, fingers and both hands, nose, both eyes for cataracts.
Now both shoulders are scheduled for Rotator Cuff operations - hurts all the time but live with it.

82 now with a book on Amazon, screen play in LA, looking for start-up funds for 2 international inc. and more - with 50+ year career in Marketing and Sales and very fortunate - I'm hangin' in !

Take care - 'every sunrise and every sunset, is a blessing'.

1971 Draft # 290
1972 Draft #188
We were sitting, shooting the **** the night before the draft, when a buddy, Butch Kroboth, said he was going to be #001. Damn if he wasn’t right. He got drafted, but did not go to Viet Nam.

I’ll be 68 in January with a new left
Knee coming in November and the right one to soon follow. It’s the Arthuristis ya know!
Why wait...do them both together and save time....I did both together and rehab was not bad at all...if you are athletic at all you will rehab about 10 weeks....I was up walking day after surgery and started rehab after 4 days.

Same here. Turned 58 in June. Just suffered through my first prostate surgery and learned I needed a new hip. It’s hard getting old.

I can't even imagine an involuntary draft anymore. I assume iff it happened they'd have to also draft women.

48 here, feel healthy and am still active. Checkups and lab tests are solid. I can still beat both kids in a footrace! My only issue is sleep. I am relieved to hit 6 hours and ecstatic to hit 7. About once per week I do 5 or less. Once or twice a month I do 2 or less. It was far worse last year, so i used an app to help me reset my sleep cycle. That worked to a degree to get to this point now that is manageable.

69 1/2. Always thought I would die before I hit 80 because of family history. Still relatively healthy but it gets scarier every year knowing its 1 year closer to death.

I can look at my high school class on classreport.com and see that 15% have passed away. The number is probably higher than that because all deaths aren't reported. It's a bit sobering.

"Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." When you reach my age it's narrowed down to the goodbyes.
It's given when you reach my age that parents, aunts and uncles, in laws etc. are long gone. But my wife, all three of my assistants from when I coached and several rival coaches that I grew close to and met for lunch every two weeks are deceased as well.
My sons and their families reside in Charlotte so there's that.
I still work part time overseeing a public school athletic league. That's pretty much the extent of my social interaction.
Some have advised I join a club, but frankly, I've grown to despise the elderly.;)

65 - have a new right shoulder and four new disks in my neck. Still active and physical. Walk three miles up and down hills every day.

Mostly though......I'm happy when I walk in room and remember what I went in there for!

I am still a bit younger than you guys (56) but I will say that when you start to regularly see people in your peer group showing up in obits it hits you that you aren't how you view yourself.
56 myself and ordered off the SR menu the other day, sobering experience.
