How soon in the NCAA will we meet IU?

You know that the NCAA will want to give IU a chance at revenge for 76 if we are undefeated going into the NCAA's. That would be their wish for that story line.

I firmly believe they will make it as hard as possible on UK with IU, Louisville and possibly Duke, but one of those teams will have to knock out the other before reaching us. If Duke ascends to a one seed along with UK and UVA, which I believe are damn near locks for a one seed barring they forget how to play defense, I think 'Zona will be our two seed.

I see IU as a 4 seed if they continue on the current trend in their conference. I don't think they are out to screw IU with a second round matchup with us.

Our region will contain the following:

Duke if they are not a 1 seed
IU probably as an 8/9 seed
West Virginia because they beat us in 2010
WKU as our 16 seed even if they deserve a 12 seed
Texas because they played us tough
Louisville
UCONN because they beat us twice in the tournament
Wichita state because we ruined their unbeaten streak last year
Wisconsin because we beat them last year and they are good again this year
Kansas so they can get us back for the beating at the beginning of the year

I would not be surprised at all if we had IU as our second round opponent...in the Yum center.

Two chances for the NCAA to play up the "revenge for spoiling the perfect season" angle:

IU (1975) in the 8/9 game.

Wichita State (last year) as the 4 or 5 seed.

Why would IU need "revenge" for 76, a season when nobody beat them? That makes no sense.
Maybe he meant 1975?

I think the poster meant the season or two prior to '76. Kentucky knocked off undefeated IU in the Tournament Regional 92-90 about a year or two prior to IU's undefeated season in '76.

IU is playing much better than an 8/9 seed right now.

More like a 3 or a 4 seed if they finish high in the B10

yes, that was the 74-75 season; Earlier in the year, UK had played IU - and that was the game Knight smacked Hall in the back of the head.

IU was 31-0 when UK met them and knocked them off in the tournament.

FWIW - if IU continues to play as they are right now, they won't be an 8-9 seed.

2 cake walks then

IU
UL
Duke
Virginia or Badgers for title coming out of the other side of bracket.

Still not enough to keep us from #9

I could see us and them placed to play each other in the 3rd round......just an opinion though so don't think too much of it.

I think some of the scenarios boil down to this :

If IU ends up an 8/9 seed, they'll certainly get be in our region, prob'ly paired with a team like Cinci as the opposite 8/9 seed

If IU can play it's way into a 4/5 seed, we'll see them in our region with Wichita State as the opposite 4/5 seed

There's a very, very small chance IU could break the 3 seed line, too many teams with better resumes' to move ahead of, imo. Therefore, I wouldn't think they could end up in our region as a #3 seed.

If Louisville can be given a 3 seed, they could also find themselves in our region (if IU is on the 8/9 seed line)

If Louisville does not end up as a 3 seed(or better) then they'll likely get shipped out of the region (because the NCAA would rather not see a NCAAT game end up like the game we played against them earlier in the year - that kind of defensive muck-fest was largely seen as a disappointing game to everyone outside the Commonwealth as far as quality of game is concerned, the NCAA wants to prevent that kind of game being duplicated in the tournament, imo)

HOWEVER

If IU ends up on the 8/9 seed line, UL can end up as a 4/5 seed and get placed in our region. Also, likely to meet opposite Wichita State as the opposite 4/5 seed. I don't think the committee will want to place lil brother in our region again this year, because of what I said above, but I still don't place it out of the realm of possibility, as UL and IU both would (should) fall naturally into the midwest region this year, which is where UK should end up.

Hope all that made sense !

The selection committee is going to have a hard time living up to all these conspiracy theories about who will be intentionally put in our bracket.

They're going to put Texas as our #2 because they have bigs that can play with us. I've heard Gonzaga because of Wiltjer, UL so they have another crack at us, Duke because they're the only team that can beat us, Virginia because they're the only team that can beat us, Uconn because we're jinxed against them, and now IU so they can get revenge for a season that happened 40 years ago.

Sounds like there's going to be 61 teams in our bracket and the winner gets to join the 3 other teams who get an automatic bye to the FF
