Other. I'm holding out hope we give the jobs to one of the 5 or 6 posters here that continue to incessantly make the same posts over and over every few minutes, as if their opinions weren't understood the first couple of hundred times.

I'm hoping they can use this technique to brainwash their beliefs on to the players, coaches, fans and recruits.

I'm going Campbell, can't believe we haven't contacted him. We can't take big swings and misses at this point, if he wants the job(or Diaz for that matter), it's time to go lock it up. Both will be stable, are youngish, think they will do as well or if not better than Franklin. The Krafty proclaimed "championship" coach, clearly doesnt exist or isn't coming here. No more embarrassing egg on the face whereby we offer another Kraft favorite only to have him turn around and take more money at his program....has to be a guy that says "I sign now if you offer me $9m and 6 years. At this point, whether you favored it or not, he can't go Terry. Terry with the 2 best coordinators money can buy means Terry is replacing coordinators every year as they get their shot with programs making changes quicker than ever and huge $$$ involved. Chesney, although I liked as a quick replacement to Franklin at a slight bargain, has assuredly become no bargain as Krafty has been dicking around. Brohm is going to command a huge pay increase to leave his alma matter, see sitake. I think you sort of split the baby with a guy like campbell or diaz. Likeable young guys(but not boys hardly), steady, won't be looking to leave after the first upset of OSU down the road.
I've wanted Campbell since this thing started.

Matt Campbell is not coming here. Nobody wants a job that is career suicide at this point. The damage cannot be repaired. Hire Terry and fire Kraft. This is now directly on Neeli.

I actually was on team Diaz early on and thought he was a solid option if our "plan A" types didn't work out. He's definitely someone I would have hoped Kraft would have spoken to during this entire process. I know he hasn't been the most successful head coach but he seems to be "growing into it" and definitely has an elite mind for defense.

IIRC his time at Miami as head coach was during the COVID era and I think that makes it hard to judge things as much since stuff was just weird.
Is Diaz horrible? No but definitely not a great hire. Kraft has us backed in such a corner that I don’t know if Diaz would even take the job. Plus there is a report of a rift because of the Temple Miami situation years ago. It is almost to the point where he is going to have to go to the young hotshot coordinator route. Stein we could have had but is gone.

The only type of coach now who would take the job would be a program builder. You know who he should call? Willie Fritz. The ultimate program builder who could actually be competitive with a depleted roster.
Coaches are a competitive bunch. I’m sure there are plenty who would be interested. Kraft’s ego might not like the names, but he’s feeling enough pressure that he’ll have to widen the net.

Willie Fritz? You kidding? The guy has passed retirement age.

More like that kind of thinking. A guy who can be competitive with less. Jeff Monken at Army, someone who can install a system to compete with a depleted roster. Because the roster is already depleted and with every passing day gets worse.

Why does it seem Kraft has a rift with everyone?

He may have a personality disorder. It sure is strange that if he has supposedly interviewed all the candidates that have been reported or insinuated he did and chose no one, then it looks like the problem is Kraft and not the candidates.

I think it's time for Penn State to take a year or two off from football. We have lost perspective about what's truly important in higher education.
With this cluster **** of a search… we will be taking 2-3 years off from football. Get ready for 3-9

Or maybe he is providing summaries to the major donors after each interview to get their approval? To date there is no evidence this guy can make a good management decision in his career regarding staffing, and seems to off put anyone he comes in contact with that has a different vision than he does, this is Sandy level of ineptness but in a different aspect of the job.

In my humble opinion Jeff Brohm would be a solid hire and a HC who is capable of upsetting OSU and potentially take the Nittany Lions to the playoffs, maybe a NC. Give Brohm a chance!

The rumor in New Brunswick is that P. Kraft and Greg Schiano had a phone conversation this week. If true, that would be an intriguing hire.

Maybe if Penn State didn't have a President with a Star Wars name that doesn't understand anything about college football or athletics, we'd have someone who could reign things in and fire Kraft and do a deal themselves.

Intriguing? He couldn't even manage to beat hapless PSU defensive unit with bowl eligibility on the line and you think he could do well at PSU?

Schiano IMO would be a pretty crappy hire but who knows.

Brohm would be solid.

Willie Fritz I could even get behind.

Maybe it's more like none of those coaches chose him.

I’m surprised that only about a quarter of us think we should go with Terry. I thought that would be closer to half. I think that Brohm/Diaz/Campbell got a good number of votes in total between the three of them. Even with Brohm only getting a few votes, I still lump the three together as very similar “experienced stability” candidates that would likely get 8 to 10 wins per year here, even with roster issues next season. Terry is my guy, but at this point I’m OK with any of the 3 stability candidates as well. I just wonder if Terry, Diaz, Campbell or Brohm has the best potential to break the ceiling that Franklin could never. Or is it more important to get stability to protect the operation.
At this point today is signing day and it’s OK if it takes us a couple weeks to get to a hire if it is well thought out and collaborative beyond just Krafty the moron making the decision. As long as we have hired a hc two weeks prior to the transfer portal, I am good.

Honestly if you hire Smith does he really change anything from a coaching staff? I would imagine that he replacing Franklin would be it and then his position replacement being filled. I'm not sure if Terry would remove any coach from their current position. Not saying good or bad, but for the people saying get him top level coordinators, maybe he doesn't want that. Maybe he wants to keep the current staff as is. I mean we would get the decade long question asked, was all this teams short comings in big games a head coach issue or a coordinator issue?

"VT will always be VT and PSU will always be PSU"... That is what Nebraska thought when they turned on Solich and then ran Pellini out of town after consistent 9+ win seasons.... In this era of minor league football the past is truly the past. Anybody who can show the money will succeed. After a few 3 win seasons and Beaver Stadium being half empty the death spiral of fewer and fewer $$$ to chase talent can kill the program indefinitely. I'm not saying that is what is going to happen none of us know but the assumption implied in your comment might not hold water. Just sayin'

Could be. If that is the result, Kraft definitely would be gone.

And if you want to cheer for Penn State players and coaches just follow Virginia Tech.
