You have been conscientious about social distancing. Doing the correct thing to protect yourself (63, smoker)....."Hi dumb ***" (sung to the tune of Alcoholics Anonymous greeting).....and your 88 year old mother who lives with you. Ordered to go from a restaurant in Louisville for take out. Server walks out into the parking lot, no gloves or mask, and walks within two feet of my window. Wants to know the name on the order. Can I not be heard from six feet? I was shocked, in the day of contact-less delivery and handling of products, that they were so cavalier about performing their jobs.

I have no qualms about your view on how to deal with this time we're in. Interpret YOUR choices as you see fit for your life. I do the same. But I'd most definitely prefer your choices don't override mine. How would you deal with this? Call the establishment and complain, health department, or just tell me to nut TF up?

Feel free to laugh or rip. I will enjoy both.

My wife and I have had some similar things happen.

One was a pizza delivery that we asked for no contact and the kid totally botched it.

The other was a click list pickup at Walmart. Someone must have complained because the next time we went to Walmart the same kid kid brought our stuff and he did everything by the book that time.

We didn't say anything to them. Just complained to one another.

I get it I guess, we have been preached at to stay 6 feet apart, but the reality is if your are going to catch it it is because the virus is on the items delivered to you not because somebody got within 6 feet of you for a few seconds.

Unless the server is changing gloves very regularly then I dont see what good they would do since the virus would just be on the gloves opposes to their hands.

I haven't heard that premise promoted very often. We didn't get the virus here because someone shipped us some egg rolls. Who knows truly though.

Ultimately the biggest issue I would have had with your server is the no mask part, at this point I expect that when I go to pickup food, go to the grocery or whatever that the employees are wearing masks. I don't pay attention to delivery drivers because of the whole no contact thing, but if a server walks out with no mask then you have to wonder what is going on in the preparation. I do feel some of this 6 feet apart thing is a little overblown and the biggest issue is the virus being picked up from surfaces opposed to through the air, but it is still possible to get it that way.

I've been to two restaurants since the shut down started. One I won't go back to, ever, for reasons similar to what you describe. The other was fine, and I will go back often.

Since it was for your 88 year old mother who is in the age group that has been very vulnerable I would have said domething to the either the employee or the Manager or both. I have went to few to go places during this time and all of them have been wearing masks and gloves and practicing good distancing. I will say the best one I have been to is Chik fil A. Even have a device for swiping your card so they don't even have to touch it. Very impressed.

Well, the dudes who made my sandwiches at Jimmy John's today weren't wearing masks, didn't bother me one bit and I didn't think twice about it.

Good question op- I have both of my parents still, and both are 88 coincidentally. Haven’t taken them out during this but my mom is still a good cook, fortunately. I still have to take both to dr. Visits, etc. so I kinda know how to relate. Younger people have no idea how to relate to older people imo. They treat them as pets or whatever. No clue how to relate. I don’t know the solution but I had a great relationship with my grandparents. It’s as if older people don’t do texts, Facebook, stuff like that, they’re irrelevant. Well screw that.

You should go back there and pepper the outside window with a sketch of a dick and balls courtesy of a paintball gun

I would get out and shake their hands and thank them for not succumbing to the ignorance that has been driven in the brains of the weak.

Unless they are changing gloves every order thats not helping you. The gloves only help the wearer, its worse if they just keep gloves on for everyone else
