Georgia 8 4-Stars, Clemmers 10 4-Stars.
Us- 1 4-Star. Our recruits are described as "under the radar"
This year will be telling. I think it will reveal early that we should have gotten Sellers more PT last year at any point. ITs not like we would have jeopardized anything by playing him more minutes.

Under the radar is our wheel house:

The landscape has changed dramatically and hard to even cross reference pre-NIL....but this was part of the issue with SB when hired. A big name/top talent coach has intangibles that don't have to be sold.... like "well he's a great fundraiser or recruiter" because if you're a legit top coach those things take care of themselves. People show up with checks and ticket sales and players show up if you're that top tier coaching talent.
I really do like Shane....the way I really liked WM, etc. But, I didn't want either of them hired because I, like many, knew the end result. He would've been a fantastic AHC and actually coordinate a side of the ball for a few years but as we've seen his ability to recruit players has been about the same as his ability to recruit coordinators. Sure- we're hoping for the best, but the results will be what they'll be.
Maybe but, Smart wasn't an established or well known head coach when he took over Georgia and neither was Dabo when he took over Clemson. Both now have multiple national titles. I use to think that it just mattered what school you coached at but Florida and FL. State busted that myth, which is why I think there's a good chance Alabama will take a big step back from the glory years with Nick Saban gone.

Smart has the good fortune to coach in a large state, sharing it with academically-handcuffed Ga. Tech. Dabo has the good fortune of being at a SEC football-type school in a basketball-first conference, thus not being worn down during the course of a season.

I'm not saying they were successful, year-in and year-out, but the most successful Head Football Coaches we have had were those who had previously proven themselves at prior schools as Head Coaches. I was vehemently against the hires of both Muschamp and Beamer for that reason. First-time Head Football Coaches here have been unmitigated failures. I'm really surprised that the hiring authorities here, after Spurrier retired, did not study our history.
