If I had to guess it would be a different PA school he is leaning towards
I know he's close to Pittsburgh and in that room at times but I don't see him going there
We definitely have to put in more work recruiting from outside of Pennsylvania. If we could get the club leagues more organized and funded better, it would pay off down the road. I helped coach a few years in youth wrestling and it was pure chaos.
Ross won by 1st period pin at the Iowa State Championship.
Looks like that was his first match of the tourney, in the round of 8
Go to events on track, put the dates as 2/29/25 to 2/28/25 and select Iowa as the state and select the first event.

Cowboys have 4 wrestlers in the Pittsburg Classic which makes the event much more interesting to watch than most years. Ramirez, Vega, Robideau and Lockett make for a potentially great recruiting class.
I watched Ross literally run right thru his opponent in the quarterfinals. He had 7 takedown attempts with 7 easy takedowns. A total mismatch that ended in tech fall in 77 seconds.
Having watched Bo Nickal destroy one of my teammates (and basically everyone he ever wrestled in HS), it’s truly insane when you get to see these high level D1 recruits go against a dude who is fighting to keep an A in Algebra II live and in person. Sometimes feels like they’re a wholly different species than the rest of us.
Vega won his first 2 matches by 1st period pin. He is in the semi's and wrestling at 144. I watched the quarterfinal match, and he got the pin with a cradle. Before that Sergio got a takedown and then back points with the leg turked, and got his arm between his opponents chin and neck and turked him over.

He absolutely dwarfed that kid he was wrestling.
In the semi's I watched Vega's match where he won on a 1st period pin with a cradle. Before the pin he had 3 takedowns and a 2 point near fall with the turk move. Got each takedown shooting on 1 leg but with his reach with in a second got control of the 2nd leg. Vega has a long reach which helps him with takedowns and cradles.
I looked for him for 10-15 min before I realized it was the Washington state wrestling tournament haha. I couldn’t find WI regionals for him yet tho.

I have know idea the caliber of this opponent (I've watch a few of his other matches) and it always looks like he's wrestling a guy in the early rounds of a tourney, say the 32 or 16 seed. Does anyone have info on how good his opponent is. I would love to see a match between he and one of the other top 215ers in the country.
His opponent is undefeated and beat the 2 seed in OT to get to Ross.

He wrestled one of the Mirasolas during Junior duals last summer. I want to see Ross vs. Jude at WNO this year.
Goff at 215 is in the regional finals with 3 1st period pins. Lockett 175 is in the finals with 2 1st period falls of 17 and 32 seconds. Teague is in the finals at 190 with 3 falls and none that took longer than 40 seconds. Guererro 157 is in the finals with 2 1st period pins of 30 and 39 seconds. Villasenor has 2 pins to the finals at 113. Adams 150 a freshman is in the finals. Routledge is in the finals with 3 1st period pins and Hickman is in the finals with pins.
His opponents semifinal match just lost the 3/4 match by a major. That semis bout went to overtime.

Wolbert had sectionals today (State next Thursday-Saturday). First two matches were forfeits (kids were there but didn't wrestle him). Won in the finals against the #3 kid in the state by TF in the 2nd period.
I just watch Vega win the 144 State Title with a 1st period 45 second pin.
Villasenor won Regions with 10 to 0 decision over Rojas. At 150 Adams wins 4 to 2 over the 1st seed Hausler to win Regions. Hickman at 150 won by 1st period pin in 27 seconds to win his region. Guererro won by tech fall over Grigsby to win 157 at his regional. Routledge wins by tech fall over Rios to win his Regional. Lockett at 175 won Regionals with a tech fall over Elliott.
Teague won by tech fall at 190 over Trotter to win Regions.
Ross won 18-2 but finally made it to the second period at least. Kid was upset with him and talking after. Not sure how you can even open your mouth after getting tossed around for 3 minutes like that.
Ross won 18 to 2 for a tech in the 2nd period. Dreshaun had 4 take downs, an escape and a couple of turns. His opponent wanted to fight after the match. Pretty humbling to get beat like he did. Ross did a cartwheel, backflip after the win.

All you Cowboy fans should really start jumping on the AWA train. Their current 8th grade class is probably the best class to date. And to say that they are better than the 24' class is saying something. Long way to go, but when the staff expresses their excitement for someone or something, that means it's special.
Through Regionals and Sectionals, Kellen has wrestled a total of about 5 minutes-ish.

Yes! The kid who was supposed to wrestle Wolbert in the semis, med forfeited, and then wrestled in the 2nd place wrestle back!!!
Oh and Wolbert is an absolute savage. Nicest kid in the world but a killer on the mat. Eventually, the good people on this forum (not the Iowa freaks) will appreciate what we have gotten.
