I am really disappointed that it took Dreshaun almost 2 minutes to get the tech. He got 7 takedowns in 1 minute and 58 seconds. He finished with a back flip probably a cartwheel before that, but the first piece was off the screen. The kid he wrestled appeared stronger and more athletic than his other opponents but to no avail. Dreshaun shot from way out and would get a piece of the leg and a second later being so strong would get the whole leg and then takedown( most of his takedowns). Thanks man!
Its only 6 pounds. You dont think college guys are cutting 6 lbs?Michael White already is 190. There is no way he can wrestle at 184, right? Cause we might need him to, in case Ryder is injury prone.
I mean it depends on how much he’s cutting to make 190. Some guys wrestle up in high school.Michael White already is 190. There is no way he can wrestle at 184, right? Cause we might need him to, in case Ryder is injury prone.
Barring continued growth I think if needed 184 would be doable next year. After that, big question mark for a while.Michael White already is 190. There is no way he can wrestle at 184, right? Cause we might need him to, in case Ryder is injury prone.
I’m sure we are. Is Sanchez expected to be a 125 pounder? Are we in on Sammy Sanchez? I know we already have Zinkin, but just curious.
Eh Sanchez is probably a guy you recruit no matter who you have.Thats the expectation. But we also have Zinkin and Ignacio.
White sure does not appear to be tall. I would guess 5:8 or 5:9. I think he would need a redshirt, I think he won State 15 to 11 against an undefeated opponent. I hope that he can wrestle 184 but it may be that he will be a 97. We need to recruit a great 74 and 84 in the next couple of years if we are going to have a super team in the next couple of years and win 35. I don't know if we will do this with top high schooler or go transfers. I looked at Flo and we have Hamiti ranked 18th as a senior at 175 which likely is not what we need. 18 of 20 are already committed but there is a sophomore 175 from Arizona Ryder Schulte. He would be a junior next year so 3 years away from coming. This would fit if Facundo gets an extra year after next year. He was 48-0 and won by tech fall in the Arizona State finals. He won State as a freshman and is rated 7th at 175 by Flow and won freshman National Champ. Of course he could grow to 197, unknown.Barring continued growth I think if needed 184 would be doable next year. After that, big question mark for a while.
Redshirt next year. That still puts him two years behind Merrill. Unless he goes for u20s maybe this year to qualify for an Olympic shirt. And goes Olympic shirt. Then redshirt. Then freshman year is Cody’s senior season. That would be epic, but you’re asking a kid to be a student for two years before he can wrestle.
Side note, Olympic shirts cannot wrestle at all in ncaa competition like normal redshirts.
Someone correct me if this is wrong but the difference in this method would be that he can be enrolled and receive the school benefits compared to a grey shirt where he couldn’t.
Keep an eye on Justus Heeg #2 in the heavy 150's. It also seems like I've heard Matty Staples?White sure does not appear to be tall. I would guess 5:8 or 5:9. Heeg is a possibility but remember his brother left Oklahoma st . Heeg will be #1 in that class soon . Everyone will want him including CaelKeep an eye on Justus Heeg #2 in the heavy 150's. It also seems like I've heard Matty Staples?
It kinda stinks missing out on Jeter and Dhabolt.
Did AJ leave on bad terms with OSU?Heeg is a possibility but remember his brother left Oklahoma st . Heeg will be #1 in that class soon . Everyone will want him including Cael
Is AJ Heeg even wrestling anymore? I saw he was with Northern Colorado last year but haven’t seen him listed in any of their duals this year.Heeg is a possibility but remember his brother left Oklahoma st . Heeg will be #1 in that class soon . Everyone will want him including Cael
No.Did AJ leave on bad terms with OSU?
Middle name Dirty?Eh Sanchez is probably a guy you recruit no matter who you have.
It has been awhile and I know a lot has and will change but I saw a post on another website (pretty sure a PSU site) that said Sanchez was an Oklahoma State lean. Again, he has 2 years to sign and that person may not know anything reliable. Regarding Heeg, I remember seeing a Heeg family Christmas photo when AJ was committed to ou and prior to flipping to OSU. The entire family, mom, dad, five kids and a couple spouses, were wearing Christmas red and white (too similar to ou crimson and cream) except Tank. He was wearing America’s Brightest Orange in an OSU wrestling sweatshirt. He needs to be a Cowboy. Are we in on Sammy Sanchez? I know we already have Zinkin, but just curious.
Had an injury and should be back next yearIs AJ Heeg even wrestling anymore? I saw he was with Northern Colorado last year but haven’t seen him listed in any of their duals this year.
Very impressive young men. It will be interesting to see how our lineup shakes out. Hopefully no injuriesWatching JJ and Jordyn Raney’s matches at the Kentucky State Championships and it’s tough to see a world where they aren’t wrestling for us at the end of the year next year. Their pace, scoring aggression, pinning style all play toward what DT wants. Everything starts at where Jax wants to be weight wise next year and I can see the coaching staff wanting to start the year with Swiderski in the lineup but holy cow, Jordyn Raney will be a problem next year if he goes 149 and JJ isn’t far behind him.
Its gonna shake like a coconut on a tree! 10 champs baby!Very impressive young men. It will be interesting to see how our lineup shakes out. Hopefully no injuries
Some folks won't be happy till its 10 champs pinning their way thru the tournament. Its gonna shake like a coconut on a tree! 10 champs baby!
Isn't that the idea? At least techs or pins. There is no reason to Wrestle 7 mins if you don't have to.Some folks won't be happy till its 10 champs pinning their way thru the tournament.
No hard feelings there.Wasn't he pretty much kicked out?
Wrong AJWasn't he pretty much kicked out?
Both Raney brothers won by pin in the 1st period in the semi's wrestling 144 and 150. Jaydyn had a fall in his finals match. Jordyn had a 20-4 TF in the finals and Jordyn became the 1st 6X Kentucky state champion. Both have won each of their rounds by fall! I know KY isn’t a wrestling hotbed but it’s been fun (and quick) watching.
Lincoln Robideau is in the semi's winning by tech, then major in the quarters. Ignasio is in the finals of Oklahoma 6A winning by tech in the quarters and by pin in the semi's. He wrestles Smith from Mustang who is the number 1 seed. I watched the Raney matches in the finals and they are impressive. Jordyn won his 6th title.Rocklin has dominated his way to California semi-finals. I am sure his next opponent is tough. Assuming he advances, he will face the winner of Sammy Sanchez and Michigan signee, Henry Aslikeyan. Becoming a 3X state champ will be tough.
Speaking of tough to be a 3X champ, Rocklin’s teammate soph Paul Ruiz has dominated his way to the semis. He upset Ronny Ramirez in the quarters last year blocking Ronny from being a 3xer.
Lincoln Robideau won by tech in the semi's of the Minnesota State Championships at 144. He is a sophomore who won State last year. He is rated 21 in the 28 class. Justice Heeg is rated 4th in that class, Camryn Howard is rated 2nd both listed at 157. Sanchez is rated 1st in this class. Howard is in the State finals with 2 techs and a fall. I saw that Robideau's record this year is 50-0.Luke Hamiti is into the state finals as well
Justice Heeg won State in Illinois at 157 where I watched the finals match which the announcers were looking forward to this match because his opponent his opponent was 49-0. It was a wipeout with a dominant tech fall by Heeg. Lots of takedowns and hard ride when Heeg wanted to. Heeg won State in Minnesota as an 8th grader and won State in Illinois last year. I watched Howards match in the semi's in New York and he won by tech. He is tall and dominant on his feet and is good with a cradleLincoln Robideau won by tech in the semi's of the Minnesota State Championships at 144. He is a sophomore who won State last year. I watched the 2 semi matches. Announcer mentioned this might be the toughest weight in the Country 120 in California. Rocklin beat Garcia 10 to 3 but was close on many takedown attempts in the 2nd and 3rd period but no scores after 3 takedowns in the 1st period. Rock is a 2 time champion and 1 runnerup in California and Garcia took 3rd in California last year. The other semi was 2 world champions where Sanchez won in 3 overtimes with an escape for a 2 to 1 decision. Sancez was the aggressor most of the match, but Aslikyan had great defense. Should be a great final.Would be great if we get Heeg, Sanchez. We need some upper weight studs.
