Howard won by tech in the finals, very dominate soph. 157 from New York who won with lots of takedowns. He is number 2 at 157 behind Miller. He is also number 2 in the 2028 class behind Sanchez.
Ignasio won 7 to 3 against Smith to win State. Villasenor got a takedown in the 1st and 2nd period to win the match. Apparently, Van Smith has had a very good year.
Is there any young Oklahoma wrestler that is in the State Tournament who the Cowboys would recruit who is a potential starter? I am not aware of anyone.
I thought of Jaiden Adams and he won State at 157. He was the 2nd seed and wrestled Anderson who Jaiden beat handily 10 to 4 and got 3 takedowns and could have gotten more in the 3rd period.
Blackwell’s Andrew Young wins the 157 lb state title to join Great Grandpa, the late Chuck Hetrick (former Mr Gallagher) and Grandpa Grady Hetrick in winning state titles.

Rocklin Zinkin beats Sammy Sanchez 5-2 to win his 3rd state title. Sanchez almost had him at the end but Rocklin managed to just fend him off. Big win Rock and I hope that Sammy decides to join him in Orange in a couple years.
That was so close to a TD. Sánchez is a bad little dude. Looks like a cowboy to me.
The Flo brackets are weird. J was was the 1 seed from the east. Every OSSAA state wrestling bracket has duplicates of every seed based on which regional they wrestled in.
I only paid attention to the 6a mat for the most part but I was impressed with Varrette (Ed. North -144) in the final. He wrestled Borge and he’s a top 5 kid at his weight n the country.

Yes, if that match was 2 seconds longer it would have gone into overtime. If the match would have gone 5 seconds longer, back points and victory for Sanchez. Rock started very strong and owned the first half of the match. The second half of the match I thought Sanchez got in a couple of good shots with chances to score. On that last shot Rock did not react at all, he did fight and just barely held off the takedown as time ran out. Also Mario Carini won at 175 winning his 2nd State Title and he is a junior committed to Virginia tech. Could we flip him like Robideau and Vega? Nationally Flow ranks him 1st at 175. Younger, bigger Merrill won by pin in 35 seconds. He is committed to Iowa State and him and Ross will likely have a rivalry. They wrestled last year in freestyle several times and Ross won each but all were close especially that last match to get in the 20 and Under HWT finals. If I remember right Ross was behind with seconds left and pulled out the last second takedown for the win.That was so close to a TD. Sánchez is a bad little dude. Looks like a cowboy to me.
The Merrill Ross FS matches this summer were just not very fun to watch. Felt like a typical HS HWT match where little to nothing happens.
I disagree. Zinkin had a crotch lock and was aware of how much time was left.
Lincoln Robideau won 9 to 3 in the Minnesota State finals.
"(P)otential starter" is a short list considering all of the young guns currently in the room.
Class of 2027 is just Villasenor (3X champ). The Coweta tandem of Cason Craft and Legend Ellis seem to be D1 guys. Both are 3X finalists and 2X champs. Craft lost his bid to be a 4Xer last night. More on that below. Turner Ross (Ed North) and Mason Burnaham (Coweta via Claremore) both stayed-on pace to be 4Xers. But they, as well as Craft, are each at low weights for juniors, 106 and/or 113. Each mentioned appear to have 10 or fewer career losses through three seasons.
Class of 2028's top prospect has to be Jaeden Adams of Stillwater. He has two titles and a 58-3 record so far. Aiden Jalajel of Coweta (120) and Brendan Bell of Ft Gibson (165) both stayed-on 4x pace. I am not sure either are legit D1 prospects yet. Bryar Hooks of Stillwater (138) won his first title and seems to be really good. I am not sure if he was injured last year or just could not make a tough Stillwater line-up as a freshman. Cache Williams of Carl Albert (113) had a great year. I believe he placed high at a couple of tough national tournaments before the season and just completed a 1-loss season with a win over Craft in the finals. A wildcard in this class could be Theron Davis of Mustang (215). He placed 3rd but during the season he defeated Ritson Meyer of Elgin, who became a 4Xer last night, by 17-2 TF.
The only freshman to win a title was Rylan Sandoval of Blackwell. He went 42-1 on the year and he has been age group competitive at a national level for a while now. Others to keep an eye on would include Jett Kline (Stillwater), Easton Pierce (Mustang), and Westin Pollack (Owasso),
It looks like each class has one top 10-20 PFP with another 3-5 potential top 100 recruits.
Currently, he is 47 and Cache Williams is 80. Jaedan (I misspelled in the first post) is a very good football player and only wrestles during the school season. I bet he climbs if he begins to wrestle some in the off season.
