Just heard on the AU/MISS game that Hubie (at the age of 91) would be doing his last game this week. Loved Hubie Brown doing color on games. Best in the business at that job in my opinion. Explained nuances of the game better than anyone. Hope I can remember to tune in.

Hubie Brown's final NBA game as a broadcaster will be on Sunday, February 9, 2025. The game will be a matchup between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers, and will air on ABC at 2 PM ET.

When I was at Bellarmine in the 70’s, Hubie was coaching the Colonels and they practiced there everyday. I watched many a practice there and learned a bunch from him during that time. Sat by the bench everyday. Great fun.

Man that sucks, he is very good. The NBA has the best media guys outside of Gus Johnson.

He is amazing. He and Bill Raftery are both special guys to be their age and just as knowledgeable and hip to the modern game is something else. Can you imagine any other 91 year old trying to do what he does? Or any 71 year old for that matter!

Definitely will be missed. An end to an era of analysts like him. He was the Head Coach of the Kentucky Colonels during their 1975 ABA Championship. He spoke at the end of the game about how much difficulty he has gone through with physical limitations when it came to traveling through the airport. Still a sharp mind about him at 91 years old to still call an NBA game today!

My favorite story from that book involved Marvin Barnes who refused to fly from Louisville to St. Louis when he looked at the schedule and noticed that he arrived at a time before he left (time zone change). He said he wasn’t getting on any Time Machine. There were a lot of colorful characters in the league.
