Took you long enough to report this.

No doubt will be fired. All players will now leave and WVU will be lucky to win a single basketball game.

Not good at all. Such a great season in the transfer portal. Cant imagine how to keep him working at this point. Thanks Huggs....

**** him! That shredded tire could have easily been another shredded car. I doubt this is an isolated incident. He's getting what he deserves.

WVU has no choice. I expect to see resignation within three days.

Erik Martin
Daris Nichols
Who else?
Joe Mazzulla would be smart to get out of his contract with the Celtics and coach WVU, as Boston will kick him to the curb as soon as the Celtics have a losing streak next season.

You left one thing out. If/when they kick him to the curb, he will get paid a nice buyout. Much larger than what WVU could pay him as a head coach

Hard to believe retaining him in the face of cancel culture that a DUI (which isn’t a new thing for him) pushes them over the line. He will coach this season, I just hope he isn’t actually spiraling and can put the pieces together this season.

He got fired from Cinci for drinking and is on some kind of probation right now because of the cancel culture club. I dont know how they can keep him but I wish they could.

Coaches have been retained through worse.
Agreed, but this is a different culture we live in now. I say use this and keep him on a short leash. Maybe this is the wakeup call he needs to sober up. Baker and Gee are probably trying to figure out what to do now.

Lol at 69 he’s not changing, issue a public apology again and in 2 days the news cycle will be completely on something else.

First offense? He’s young. Hopefully learned from it unlike someone else.

Not good optics in any event. Maybe those bad optics are worth it if Nichols is a sure fire Huggins level coach. However, I doubt he is that talented and thus likely there will be another candidate with similar prospects minus the baggage.

This is his 2nd known DUI. Hard to tell if there have been any cover ups in the state of WV. After his catholic incident on the radio there is no way WVU can afford to keep him.

Say goodbye to the dream team on paper and prepare for a 1-31 record.

I can't see him surviving this. It can be argued that the comments that got him in trouble with the woke crowd were probably alcohol-fueled as well. He'll probably be given a chance to resign.

I fully believe this would have been his final year just because the way they redid his contract after his mouth got him in trouble. Now his alcoholism finished him off to be let go early.

Why would WVU allow him to resign? Firing him sends a message that you need serious help.

I was disgusted and embarrassed for him & WVU after the incident a few months ago. Now driving while drunk, and knowing what can happen when you do, is inexcusable. I hope he's gone by the end of the day. He's really tarnished the legacy he built and it's a damn shame.

I have believed all along that he was drunk, or at least drinking, when he gave that radio interview.

Resign or fired, at this point it's one in the same.

I believe he was drunk on the radio show. From what I know he is drunk everyday or almost everyday.

He’s our guy at the end of the day. Good luck finding a decent replacement when we have run off our most successful coach.

We’re primed to win after putting up with several crap seasons, and our top coach in program history during peak offseason went for a ride he shouldn’t have, keep it in perspective.

Unlike the radio incident, this is serious business and only by sheer luck did he not kill someone. This legitimate could've hurt someone unlike using words some people find offensive.

I like Huggins. I respect the way his players want to play for him. I love his sardonic wit and sarcasm. I love he is a throwback and not some wimpy charlatan who changes as the wind blows.

But he blew a 0.21. In Pittsburgh. In the North Side. What the bleep was he doing there. He had multiple empties in his car. He last remembered eating at Burger King in Washington. What the hell was he doing? Yes it is obviously a serious problem. But I am trying to connect the dots on why he was there and what the hell was he doing drinking like a frat boy road trip??

I live here(Pittsburgh). I lived in Morgantown. I have made the drive 100's of times. I figure Huggs lives out by Cheat Lake or something (given the number of times he was at Bugsy's) and Cheat Lake to the North Side of Pittsburgh is over 80 miles!!

There was a 100K people last night on the North Side. In addition to normal Friday night traffic. He was so blasted he had to run a curb or median, shredded his tire, must have figured out something was wrong and stopped on the road and tried to do a 3 point turn. What? To drive back to Morgantown? With a 0.21 BAA. He would have never made it. He would have wrecked and killed himself or others or both.

Was he partying with people for the Taylor Swift concert, (I am serious) but then decided to leave. Was he at the Casino? Did he maybe think "I will get a hotel" but all of the hotels in the area were sold out. Did he think "I will get an Uber" but again all Ubers likely were used. The Pittsburgh officials were telling people to stay away from the Northside. He went there. Trashed. Or he got trashed there. It was a cacophony of just horrible choices and bad timing.

This is not say blowing a 0.10 driving home a mile from Bugsy's to his house. He was going to have to figure out how to drive all that way that impaired. This is a mistake that luckily was not fatal to him or anyone else but absolutely his career. WVU and jocksniffer Gordon Gee needs to have a spine here. No trite "retirements". You have to fire him. Sure, you help Huggs get help. But he has to be fired. Like NOW!

Over twice the legal limit. Not only that he had blackouts and could not remember anything. Last thing he recalls was a stop at a fast food place (Burger King) at 1:30 pm. That's 7 hours he couldn't account for. That is a serious alcohol problem when you have blackouts. He didn't even know where he was. He drove on a flat tire until it was shredded.

I worked with a man who was excellent at what he did..but if he was off work, he was drinking..it finally caught up to him

We hired him off a dui, this sucks but it’s been almost 20 years since his last incident. The guy is clearly spiraling, don’t let him go out like Eddie Sutton as a bitter old drunk, give him some support if he’s receptive and try to have this story end happily.
