If they're practicing, that explains a lot about the program. Hasn't changed since Calhoun was there and dodged an investigation by claiming heart issues or something. Lmao
UCONN has always been a "rules optional" kind of program. Of course they are having coaches begin organized practices early.

The NCAA needs to go ahead and give up limited practice schedules, etc. The kids are essentially pros who are working on their degrees on the side anyhow.

You mentioned the fluff. While I don’t subscribe to the social experiment stuff, I still believe California is the wackiest place on earth. I should have to have a passport to go there. I don’t care how hot the trim is, you couldn’t pay me to live in that crazy *** place
It has made me a almost mega millionaire living here in Calif. I am ready now to unload my property and move east and live out my life.

That crap needs to be taken elsewhere.

I'd be interested in seeing things like Candlestick Park, the Oakland A's park (the one they're leaving), and I've heard the waves are really big out there. But you hear so many stories about people being robbed and shot in broad daylight, and earthquakes frighten me. The biggest waves I've ever seen were at Myrtle Beach :/

Lmao. Two posts. An hour apart. Are you this mental?

Does Hurley enjoy the spotlight of being publicly courted with big money offers?
If he doesn’t take the Lakers job, he may be a bigger asshat than I expected.

So you don't go after one of the best coaches in college basketball? Lowered our prestige? Nah, Cal did a damn good job of that in the last 3 years. UConn is a solid job. They've won several titles under multiple coaches. Between their men's and women's programs, they're basketball U. No debating it to be honest.

Pisses you off? Ok. Whatever. If Mitch had come out and said "We're not interested in Hurley" the media would've had a field day.

This is Kentucky. You go after the best. If they say no, they say no.

No, you don’t go after Hurley. You can go after the best but not Hurley. When you know the answer before you ask you stay away from it. It was stupid then and it’s worse when people don’t learn from it. He was never, ever, coming here. Why do you want to give them that kind of ammo?

"You can go after the best, but not Hurley"
But he's objectively the best coach in college basketball right now. That's literally a contradiction.

What people? Learn from it? He said no, and we went to the next on the list. Goodness You sound really irritated for absolutely no reason.

If Hurley takes the Lakers job, what does that say about him not wanting to take the UK job? Did Cal do that much damage? Again, this is coming from the perspective of before we hired Pope. I am excited to have Pope, he's doing all the right things. Just interesting on how UK job is perceived.
I wouldn't read too much into it. UK is still a great job but it would have been a complete rebuild. He had UCONN on auto pilot as much as a college program can be. With that said, coaching college basketball right now is harder than it has ever been with NIL and the portal. He's always had the goal of going pro so it's not that big of a shock.

Its a no brainer, you take the Lakers job and if he wants a Boston/NY Knicks job just wait until its open. But with Lebron and Davis, this is a chance to show you're capable of being a good NBA coach and thats what Hurley desires. also if he comes back to UConn and doesnt win a title in the next 2 years then interest from NBA's biggest franchises wont be nearly as interested. This is the opportunity to get in the door at a place you can win at, he would be stupid to pass it up.

No, the talking about it on here needs to be taken elsewhere. Stop worrying about what other people are doing that doesn't affect you.

I fail to see how people being robbed and shot in another part of the country (you speak as if you don’t live there) has anything to do with you.

It sure would be nice if you took that holier than thou attitude and applied to yourself every now and then!

This news prompted me to Google Jeanie Buss.
She is still a looker at 62 with $500 million in the bank. I had no idea she was married to Jay Mohr from SNL

If you want to see her in her prime she posed for Playboy in the mid 1990’s.

California is trying to tax people that leave now too, better get out while the getting is good.
I know of at least 3 families that moved from Cali to my neighborhood in the last couple of years. None of them were work or family related they just wanted to get away from California. Someone should convince Biden to give Cali to Mexico free of charge.

They're anywhere from $1,400 to 2,000.

A two bedroom apartment I had until early 2021 was $900 in rent but now rents for $1,800 in Lexington. It's insane. Feel for people out there.
Oh yeah I was way under. I feel very lucky I scored a house in 2013 right on the tail end of the crash. The house itself is lame, but I don’t know if it’d be possible at all to get one now.

I would be in some trouble if I had to get a house now. I got one before the rates went crazy. Now no one is moving.

My best friend got his house in 2010 by himself. He would probably not qualify now to get that same house which is crazy.

I don’t know where “here” is for you but I don’t think there’s a 3 bedroom under $1200 in Lexington!
I’m right across from Louisville, the apartments that are brand new right next to my neighborhood run around 7-800 for a 3 bedroom. I do realize rates are going up for everything though, still it’s at least 2 to 3 time more to live in California, especially by the bigger cities.

A friend of mine is leaving Maryland for Tennessee and Maryland is trying to do the exit tax now too because of so many people leaving.

Common sense would probably tell you "Hey, maybe we should try to make things easier here and incentivize people to stay instead of robbing them to the point that they flee our policies."

The college town tax I guess. Rates in southern Indiana are way cheaper.

Exactly which shows they don’t care about the people just the tax revenue and I don’t see how they could legally pull that off but our courts are corrupt now too so who knows.

I don't think that's it.

Didn't he leverage the Kentucky situation to get more money? I just have a hard time thinking UCONN was like: We have more money, but this is all we're gonna give you for now--but they have more in the war chest in case the NBA comes snooping.

People had been saying he wanted to be in the NBA. The Lakers are 1 of 2 Premier NBA franchises.

Hurley values being on the East Coast. But not more than he values coaching in the NBA. I would argue not more than he values winning in college. If UCONN wasn't giving him the resources to win, he probably thinks more about the Kentucky job. But Kentucky wasn't elevating him beyond what he was already doing at UCONN. He could stay where he was, win, and make more than enough money to live comfortably forever.

But his big goal is to coach in the NBA. Maybe he'd rather it be the Celtics or the Knicks. But I'll be shocked if he isn't the Lakers coach.
