I haven't followed Nebraska's recruiting the past couple years. I have heard people say that there are an awful lot of walk on's in the two deep.

I am sure that Nebraska can take 25 players this year and could possibly take more if they had some early enrollee's they could count back to last year's class. How many recruits do you think Nebraska takes this year? Sorry if you have already addressed this question.

I believe we can count back at least 3 and will sign minimum 23 no matter what. The number can rise pending who goes on the next 10 weeks.

at this point I think maybe they are starting to figure out who is buying in and who isn't. That might be some of the answer to the mystery of why some guys aren't playing. Lewis is a real dilemma because I don't know who you replace him with if you suspend him. Clearly something has to happen with him. I guess I don't know what they get thrown at them on social media that would make him act that way. The fans at that game spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars to tavel and support the team and watch HIM and his teammates play and then to act like that? I don't get it.

The JUCO commit we have should count back right? Hopefully we "manage" the numbers and end up in the high 20s. If some of the rumors are true about some bad attitudes, I don't think 6 is going to tough to make.

I don't get it either but somewhat understand the thought of additional time running off with the boot (more field coverage). I hope we don't see it again, hand the ball off, off tackle stretch which allows additional time to run off, then take a DOG with a punt on 4th down. No more than :10-:11 left in the game with 80 or more yards to cover.

With that said, I would expect a 3rd year starting QB, to execute what the coaches said. Thats just as disappointing and concerning to me as well.

I have a feeling that TA just wants to win so bad, he's just putting too much on himself to make plays. Why else would you just chuck the thing when you know you have to run out the clock. I don't know if its been clarified, but at least Ozigbo wasn't clear of the original call to begin with, and its not out of the realm of possiblity TA didn't have it right to begin with which was why it look like most of the O was out of sorts.

I don't buy that jflores, mainly because I read texts from 2 offensive starters that were on the field.

I hadn't really read up on it besides the inital OWH article where they mentioned the Ozigbo quote. What's the prevailing theory for realz?

With all the walk on's on the two deep, I thought Nebraska was down on numbers. It must be a quality issue, not quantity.

Well if Nebraska can find some EE's and "encourage" some additional attrition, they should be able to sign 30 (can count back at least 5 EE's to last years class). Could even be more if they had any EE's last year that they could assign to the previous years class.

A lot of freshman isn't necessarily great for the short term, but would be great a couple years down the road.

I think we have 17 scholarship seniors. I guess one could also count the junior walk-ons that are currently on scholarship but I doubt any of them aren't renewed. Getting to 30 means 13 guys are purged, that's an awfully large number...

How many guys have legit interest? Could we get to 28 without taking warm bodies just for the sake of it?

Per the Portland Tribune article from August, we were going for 22. That number could be different by February.

NCAA limits football scholarships to 85 team/25 annual. When the roster comes out (actually think it's a date in August, but don't remember), you can only have 25 new scholarship players and 85 total scholarship players. If we were to take 30, only 25 can come on scholarship. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

The problem is the 85 limit. Nebraska could take 30 if 5 enrolled early, because they only signed 20 last year-so they can count 5 EE's back to last year's class (actually they could sign 6 EE's if you had at least one EE last year-because you could count that back to the previous year's class. So technically you could sign 30-31 in this class if it didn't exceed 85 scholarship players. According to Tim, that doesn't do Nebraska any good unless they choose to non renew some walk on scholarships or a helluva lot of people leave.

TA did say today evidently that the reason he threw the ball is that he didn't want to take the sack and take us out of field goal range. At least that is somewhat logical. Hindsight maybe not a good decision but at least he was thinking.
