How many current head coaches actually played at the school they coach at ? Pros and Cons ?

I know coach Walsh is at home and I think Andrews head coach played there and possibly Swains head coach( no sure if he actually played football )just thought it kind of interesting

I don't think it's as prevalent in football as it is in other sports. And I'd say it happens at the 1A and 2A level more than anything. I think in the Mountain Valley the only 2 are Noah Lyon at Alleghany and maybe Sandy Grinton at Starmount, but I may be wrong. Don't think there is any in the Northwest conference.

Ashe County used to have three high schools (Beaver Creek, Ashe Central, & NW Ashe). In 1999, they consolidated them into a single high school, Ashe County High. Brain Hampton that currently coaches at Ashe went to Beaver Creek. Not sure if that counts.

Danny Lyons, head coach of North Surry, also played at North.
