For the first time in decades I will not watch a UK football game. I am 53 years old and have watched every UK game that was aired in the area I was living in. Next week I will not even watch the UK/UF game, as I feel it will be a waste of my time. For the record, I like Mark Stoops and I thought he could get this going in the right direction. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I have no reason to believe that UK can have a winning record under Stoops. This staff let Dawson punk them. Words can’t even describe how embarrassing that is. Before anyone calls me a basketball fan, I want to make it clear that even though I was born in Kentucky I grew up in Florida, where football is king. The only reason I love basketball is because UK has been so good at it. College football is the greatest sport on the planet and the only reason I like basketball is because of UK. I don’t know where we go from here, but Stoops is not the answer.

Pretty good post. I agree with all of it. I don't know that i have it in me not to watch, but I will definitely go to only 1 game this year instead of the usual 4 or 5.

I agree with you! I grew up in Virginia though. So enjoying good football is nothing I'm used to. My wife is from Nashville and a big UT fan. Keeps trying to get me to move over to UT football. Better chance of me pulling for the Taliban than UT. But I really like Dabo and Clemson. Gonna root for them to win it all this year.

I don't know you so i don't really understand why you think posting about quitting being a fan of Kentucky football would even matter? No offense to you, but it just seems silly to think you matter enough on this forum to retire. It's kind of funny, actually. I see fans do this all the time and i can't help but shake my head. The truth is, you say you quit, but we will see you again. It's too bad most of us can't really mean it when we want to quit Kentucky football. I guess when you're abused on the field as many years as Kentucky, you start to get used to it. Good luck on your retirement and let's hope you keep your word and no comeback is in the works a few years down the line!

I'm out unless they hire Nick Saban, I'll be watching Bengals. I never thought I would feel this way, but I don't care anymore. Look at my past posts, I loved this team but they don't deserve me as a fan. I honestly feel like I just got out of an unhealthy relationship, it feels kind of good.

"I'll be watching the Bengals".

I couldn't imagine my two favorite football teams being Kentucky and The Bungles. Wow....

I'm a 23 year old die hard UK fan. It does not matter what sport, I will always cheer. However, with my salary and future ahead of me, I cannot financially do this anymore. I bought season tickets for the first time this year (after buying tickets for single games for the past 6 years). Until I can at least get a decent return on my investment, I will not be back. I will try and sell every other home game and just watch from home. It kills me not to be there but you can't ask me and every other fan to spend their hard earned money and watch that crap. Fix it or goodbye for life. Absolutely pathetic.

I upgraded my season tickets this year to where I'm lower in the upper deck and right on the 50 yard line with seatbacks. I was pretty excited all week about being in Commonwealth tonight. What I witnessed took everything out of me and I don't think I've ever felt so low as a UK fan as I did tonight. It was then that I realized I will not be renewing my tickets next year, for sure, as so many others did after last season. I thought, no, I'll give him one more year and hope to see a turnaround. But, tonight was just too tough to take and, as I said, made me feel like never before about UK football and I've watched a lot of bad seasons in the past. Staying at home next year in the comfort of my room with a big screen TV now makes far more sense than going to the stadium each week, fighting traffic and all the expense involved in tickets, parking, concessions, etc. Tonight sealed the deal with me about no more investing in season tickets. Like the OP, I'm done. I may watch games on TV still but I can always turn it to another game whenever UK starts stinking it up again.

I can assure you that I will not watch next weeks game. Unlike in the past, UK will have to start winning important games before I invest anymore of my time watching the most pathetic program in the SEC.

Is this like Trump's pledge not to watch CNN? LoL I'd bet you'll be front and center to watch UK at Florida.

Mitch barnhart's cronies read these boards. if enough people say they're done and then enough people show it by not showing up... Then it forces Mitch to do something about it

The bad part Is you start a fresh season with promise and a great amount of hope we go down the schedule and it looks like you are going to be bowl eligible I penciled in 7-5 to start with. Then you play a tremendous first half and look better than you have in years, and we lost this at halftime or maybe the momentum swung just before half. But to give up 28 unanswered points in 14 minutes and 34 all together to a non SEC team really tests your ability to remain hopeful. I will admit that watching football is just something to do till Basketball season starts for me, but I can't imagine how Coach Stoops and staff feel right now. I will continue to watch when I can but the candle of hope has become very dim.

I'll continue to cheer for UK and hope they win because I grew up in the Lexington area have always been a Wildcat fan, but as a WKU alum I'm going to start investing my time and $ into really supporting their football program, which, if Brohm stays in Bowling Green, could become one of the top mid-major programs in the country. I guess they already are, but I'm hoping they could have one of those magical Boise State type seasons at some point. The problem is that I just don't think Brohm will be here much longer, especially if Western ends up having another great season this year, he'll be on every major program's short list next to Tom Herman at Houston to take over for them.

I also grew up in florida during a time when Florida, FSU and Miami were largely dominant (late 80s and 90s). I grew up rooting for FSU, but can't even go back to rooting for them. And I've resigned myself after last season that I just can't care anymore. I'd rather spend time with my family than even waste time watching this junk on TV.

We'll never be competitve at the SEC level, but as an alum, it's despicable that Barnhart has been permitted to mismanage the athletic department to the degree he has over the past decade and then thumb his nose at the fans, alumni and boosters every chance he gets. We will never compete for an SEC title, but it's not too much to ask to avoid the embarrassments against wku in recent years, eku last year, southern miss last night and to beat UofL once every 5 or 6 years. And then give said coach an extension on the heels of these performances. If I performed as awful as barnhart has in my job, I would have not only have been fired 10 years ago, I wouldn't even have a hope of finding a job in my field in the future.

Not to be an *** or anything, but I just think it's incredibly funny that you are leaving Kentucky football for an unhealthy relationship to a team like the Bengals who too always let's their fans down in incredibly hilarious fashion. They are the Kentucky Football of the NFL.

The Bengals have us hoodwinked also. They'll never amount to jack, they just look a little better than UK in the regular season. I'll watch, but I'm no longer emotionally invested in football. Im not even watching UK. Not gonna be charlie brown anymore.

This. After Jeremy Hill and Burfict debacle, it's clear that they're just as cursed as UK football. It's just that the regular season doesn't mean much in the NFL, so they can overperform in the regular season without much consequence.

It's called halftime/in game adjustments. We're clueless in this department. It's as if they go in locker room and stoops acts as if the game was just won and says good job guys! Go out there and do it again because we know they're not going to change the game plan or have to adjust by any means. Just a bad head coach man. Been saying it. Been trying to teach this board a thing or 2 about stoops and his cluelessness. But some here just look at star ratings and go 'OMG' 'we're gonna win some games this year' because apparently games are won on the recruiting trail if you get players with higher star ratings. If you were to listen to a large portion of our fanbase.

I traded UK for WKU tickets this year and after last night, I'm very happy with my decision. I'll continue to cheer and watch when I can but the time and money I'm saving by supporting my alma mater makes it a no-brainer and we haven't even talked the difference in football programs lol.

My wife and I ad tickets for years. There was always hope, even through the many down times. The fan base has finally about given up. If you saw the clip of fans storming the field (about 100 of them) after KU beat Rhode Island yesterday, that's what's heading this way, again.

If the first game of the season is your "breaking point" to totally give up, then I don't know what to say for you.
