First of all do not even come close to labeling me a poser. I have posting on these boards for over 15 years and have over 2000 posts to prove it. Mostly, I just get on and read other people's posts and occasionally I will chime in with comments.
I went to UK from 1968-1972 and have had any where from 2-4 season tickets and a parking pass over this period of time.
I have attended all but one of the Head Football coach charity dinners over the last 8 years and I have been part of the winning bid whereby a group of friends and myself attended a dinner the last 2 years hosted by Mark Stoops and his wife. This year the dinner was held at Mark Stoops personal. Tim Couch has also been one of the paying attendees each of the last two years. This is not a cheap dinner to bid on and win as each of the last 2 years the average cost per couple has been $2250.
I write all this for one reason. I have seen up close and personal just how driven Mark Stops and our entire coaching staff is from attending the private dinners and the Coach sponsored charity events held the last 8 years at various horse farms around Lexington where all the via he's attend and mingle with the BBN fans.
I know some of you will want to bash me but Ican truly feel that this week starts the turn around process. What have we got to lose? We beat New Mexico State, then a bad SC program and we are on our way. The team that I think will give us the most trouble will be Miss. State but we have them at home and by then we will know that 6 wins is doable if we take care of business.
All I am asking is to give this team one more chance and yourselves one more chance to be part of a BIG turn around. We have the facilities in place so now we just need 6 wins and we are on our way.

Who is with me? If not, I just ask you to be respectable so as not to quell the enthusiasm of other UK fans who will be there Saturday to cheer the Cats in to Victory.

I'm still on the Stoops train. Certainly till the end of season. Jumping off and being so negative after 2 games isn't going to help. Starting over with another Mitch hire isn't gonna work either IMO. I know CMS has made mistakes but I like this staff and we have some talent on the field. It just needs more experience. Certainly more depth and that doesn't come in 4 years. People need to be patient.

Since youre friends with Stoops then you can go tell him just how pissed off we are. Fire his buddy Eliot because so far after 4 seasons the D looks lost just like their coach. Both lines are putrid, fire them coaches as well.
On his next hires take the route of proven coaches not a guy from Juco or a guy shortly removed from HS or a guy who never had been a DC before. Guys with a name and results so we can sell it to recruits because we have an uphill battle now because the D is a disaster.

Also tell Stoops to do a little less politcing and a little more coaching since his DC says the D is too complicated for the guys to handle.

Problem is, this is not a 2 game deal. This has not been a well coached team ever since the second Stoops touched down in KY.

I'm sick of UK football sucking. If the coaches were doing their jobs then maybe they wouldn't be getting criticised.

CAREFUL MAN. Jeez. Don't you know your not allowed to criticize a bunch of grown men who are being payed millions of dollars a year to run our program into the ground in a show of complete and incompetence to the point that it borders on cowardice?

If your not careful your gonna make the thread starter wet himself.

none of our coaches or players are trash, which I have seen them called on a number of occasions on here. If the staff fails to live up to our expectations that doesn't mean that they failed b/c of a lack of effort or that they didn't give all they had to get this program where we want it. I still will be pulling for the players and coaches each week til such time as they aren't here anymore.
I know, there are some here who will say "fans like you are the problem" lol, well so be it but to me that kind of thinking is as *** backwards as it gets!! You think the way to support our program is to bash our Staff at every opportunity go ahead, myself,, I will hope for better and I will treat everyone esp Coach Stoops respectfully!Go Big Blue!!!

What I'm "sickened" by is Kentucky football being treated like the red-headed step child by Mitch Barnhart and his predecessors while schools like Louisville and Western kick our *** and then mock us simply because they have an administration that doesn't make excuses about why they can't win in the nation's most popular sport. It's a sick joke that a school that almost cancelled their football program and a school that basically just joined division one are now superior to the state's flagship program. It's like a bad episode of the twilight zone and all we get are more excuses about why we can't win and why we should just be happy and yada yada yada, all the while Louisville kicks our *** year after year all because they have an AD that wants it more. That's what sickens me.

You have completely missed the boat on your rant. The people who have been responding on this board are die hard UK football fans who are fed up with the product they are seeing on the field this year and the years that Stoops has been here. They no longer want to see a team that is ill prepared, has no fight or determination, and players who have been in the fold for four years who are showing little if any improvement in their football playing skills.
I think everyone who responds with the exception of a few trolls want Stoops and the program to be highly successful and are very frustrated by what we are seeing.

I have nothing against Mark Stoops as a man. As a coach though... Well 4 years ago when he started here Southern Mississippi had a 1 win season. This season with a new coach they beat UK. Why? Don't give me, well they have a QB and a RB that are NFL quality. Why didn't we recruit those kids. Surely we could have out recruited S. Miss. He is not getting it done.

With all due respect to @shadowman4...

the OP had dinner with the coach in a formal setting and that ensured him he's the man for the job...

I've been to Sky Bar multiple times coach was there. Very informal, nice guy. Never once made me think "he's probably a great head coach" just because I was in the same room.

I do hope he is correct in his prediction that we turn things around.

What a horrible OP. By far the biggest bull crap I have seen. Not only does contradict everything that's going on right now it is full blown pumper post. This staff is not driven at all, because if they were we would of won week 1 and played a division 1 school against Florida. The players feed off the coaches and thus why the players aren't driven. I don't care if you go on dinner dates with stoops, the point being is you're wrong

How long has WKU been a D1 school??

They recruit leftovers!!

UK football isn't a bad dream, it's a nightmare!!!

You can't make this stuff up!!!

NOBODY needs to be talkin crap at me about supporting this program!!

I was watching Sonny Collins and Derrick Ramsey back when we were pretty good...

I've been a fan for over 40 years and I think the maddest I've ever been is when Mitch called me a "microwave" fan.

I haven't liked him since then, and I reject anyone's criticism who has the balls to question my being a "real fan"!!

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Easy there big fella. We're not real fans. The "real" are the flame-baiting OP and all the pumpers, ESPECIALLY ones who LOVE capitalization, PARTICULARLY when said capitalization ADDS nothing to the post. If you don't get that, you're not a real fan. You probably think football is an 11 on 11 sport with schemes and fundamentals, bet you didn't even realize its algebra and as simple as adding up HS achievements and rankings and dividing by 85.

Use your block posters effectively and this becomes a much more tolerable and intelligent place to talk sports.

Stoops has not brought the results we are paying him (handsomely) for. He is open to any an all criticism. It is totally possible to be driven, committed, and bad at your job. He is. He deserves to be fired for performance on the field. I don't care who he has dinner with.

I will not criticize a player for not being good. 99.999999% of people would never even be invited on to a college football team, so obviously some of then will not pan out. I will criticize a player for lack of effort. That is one thing anyone can control and they do not deserve to play if they are not showing effort.

Shawdowman, I also attended UK the exact same dates. It has been a rough road for us save a few years - like 76 and 77 in particular! I am sure Coach Stoops is a really fun guy and intense football coach. I don't think most of the people on this board are mad or angry with Mark Stoops the man, they are angry with Mark Stoops the Coach. Obviously you and your group have done some successful things in your life to be able to attend and do the things with football you have. You have probably worked with or know people that are good caring people -but just couldn't the job that they were hired for. It is not and indictment of their personal qualities - it's just they can't get the job done.

I am with you and have said as much as to supporting the team for the rest of the season and for as long as I am around. However, YOU and I have to acknowledge that we MAY need to change coaches if the results on the field aren't better! I know Joker Phillips was and is a really nice person - probably not a single person that has coached UK cared more about UK football than Joker did. He wasn't cut out to be a head coach - it's time to acknowledge that maybe Mark Stoops is not cut out to be a head coach too. We should know a lot more after the next 3 games. We need two wins and a good showing against Alabama. If this doesn't happen - we need to act quickly IMO.

Go Big Blue!

oh yes.. the old dinner hall......... how every coach should be graded and judged. [roll]

If you want people to care about UK football.......... then expect people to care. Thats cheering when winning and complaining and rants when losing. Your other choice is people not giving a flying sh*t and this board and the seats would be empty

There are undoubtedly some strong opinions, but fan is short for fanatic, this is a message board, and we fans are worn out with the less than satisfactory performance by coaches and players.

Sugar coating things does no one any good.

The coaches are well compensated with salary and benefits beyond imagination. The players are taken care of as well, from scholarships to transportation around campus via golf cart, tutors, nutritionists, chiropractors and massage therapists, and much much more. Both player and coach have grown up in the world of sports, specifically football, and are well adjusted to all the passion (good and bad) and "parking lot talk" that comes with it.

We fans, though we may get angry and vent, support them all like no other program would support an under performing team/staff.

I understand a very few may step over the line of reasonable discourse, but for the most part I don't think UK fans or this board is any worse than any other fan base.

Some times hard talk based on reality is good.

People arent mean towards players & coaches because they want to be, it is because they feel frustrated & hurt their fav team is not winning games. And I understand your response from personal meetings with Stoops, I've never met the man but everything he has said & done since being hired convinced me for a long time he was gonna get it done. He is great at every aspect of his job....except 3 1/2 hours 12 days a week during the season.

38 games is a lengthy enough resume for me at this point, he just is not a good head coach, does not get his teams prepared or inspired enough. Does not adjust during games while the opposing side does circles around him X's & O's wise. Awful disorganization, days after S. Miss he realizes it was bad to play his starting front 7 all 90 snaps, and talks about playing some backups some come Florida? How in the world is that a realization that happens days later & not during the 2nd & 3rd quarter?

There is just a big damn difference in knowing football, being an expert in one aspect of the game (defense), and being able to gameplan all parts of the game, the depth charts, the gameplan for this weeks opponent, the changes needed during the game, clock management, personnel management. Some guys when promoted to the big chair get it, some dont and are destined to just be great coordinators. Hoping & praying these problems that have consistently been there will suddenly disappear, he will suddenly get it & have learned how to be a good head coach...but it isnt logical to think it will if it hasnt in 3 yrs + 2 games.

Still my position is clear, I'd rather Stoops remain head coach for the foreseeable future rather than allow Barnhart to make ANOTHER hire and make ANOTHER contract negotiation.

I only have 1 question:

If Coach Stoops and his staff are so "driven", why can't they translate that to the team and players?

This team looks unprepared, confused, fundamentally lacking, uninspired, lacking confidence and NOT DRIVEN, WHY???!!!!!!!!

They've looked that way for over fifty years with just a few sporadic upticks with Curci and Brooks.

Now maybe it's the coaches fault and maybe it's is player quality. We have outstanding players, at some positions, coached by the same coaches that so many are complaining about. We have more players who appear to be going through the motions and that's all you're going to get out of them.

There's a difference between those players and it's not coaching. The good ones are self motivated and the others are, figuratively, in the football welfare line hoping for a free pass.

Those who feel that locker room speeches and brilliant coaching strategy rules the day are missing the main point about football. It's whipping the man in front of you and to do that you have to go to work every play. Too many UK players haven't done that and aren't doing it now.

Just because you know them and they are driven and good people does not make them right for the job. (See Tubby Smith) I don't think anyone wants him to fail but, it is what is happening so far. Sure, I will continue to root and hope that it will improve but, indicators so far are not good.

I am sickened by the university's half-*** attempt to win at football for the last 50 years. I am sickened by the product that Mark stoops is putting on the field in year 4 of what was supposed to be a rebuilt and better UK football program.

See how that works?
