This took me forever to figure out
From the ZZL message board main page (the one with the threads listed) click on the Three Lines menu icon in the top left corner
Then once the menu opens up click on the little person Profile icon directly to the right of the Three Lines icon
This should bring up your Account info and there should be a generic avatar circle next to your user name with the word EDIT on it. Click the avatar circle and that should take you to the screen to add an avatar image

Neither site is now what it was. Both are diminished. Perhaps one or both will one day actually be back. The other site is now allowing political posts and, as expected, some of the old vermin have crawled out of their cracks and are spewing hate again. For a few weeks there was some actual discussion and civil debate, but it has been crowded out by a small handful of posters intent on trolling, flaming, and baiting.
