It would be a brilliant counter intel type of move for an agent working in the dark to release this. It wouldn't surprise me if this is his best "looking" return in 25 years and he cherry picked it to release. It serves so many purposes. 1. More deep state fodder. 2. Allows MSNBC to be further exposed for biased and agenda driven outfit they are. 3. Makes that sexy beast Rachel Maddow look like a buffoon as she's been one of his most outspoken political critics. 4. Discredits her, MSNBC, and the tax return arguments all in one. 5. Shows he was "more American" than either Obama or Bernie due to not only how much but also by percentage he paid. 6. Will cast doubt on "insiders" and what they have to share.

I've got 10 more reasons why this theory works. Honestly, after running through the options on this, I don't see how this isn't the case. If not and this were chess, MSNBC just lost their queen to a pawn on move 4.

That return didn't tell anyone anything. Without the schedules, it is worthless. But your rubes will spin it as some vindication. Until the returns are subpoenaed, this is all speculation-albeit well-grounded.

No. They reported what they had. Nothing wrong with that. But no much can be drawn from this. I suspect Devil is right. This was probably the best Trump had. Would be telling to see the schedules to see where his money is actually coming from and where it is going.

You mean like all the money that Mao Obama channeled to the middle east?

Then why did your rubes attempt to make something of it?

After watching Billions last night, I thought the same thing. Why 2005? Who would have had a copy of the first 2 sheets of a 2005 return and not the sheets from other years? If it was an IRS inside leaker, then they would have released a lot more. It was a disgruntled form Trump employee/accountant type, they would have had access to probably more and released more.

I do think too that 2005 would probably be his best looking return from a percentage paid standpoint.

In the world of public opinion it's a gold mine. In the eyes of someone who understands tax which is about .00000000001% of the population, it says nothing. And check the tweet Dave posted, rubes on your side are trying to spin it into something as well, little do they know they are only making themselves look more ignorant.

Because we all know MSNBC lacks an agenda when it comes to Trump.
Ok? And I'm sure Hannity was fair and balanced last night. I don't know why anyone watches that trash, but they do. And there's money to be made.

We know Hannity plays to his rubes and we know Savage plays to her rubes.

This was as much about stirring up the left into their idiotic frenzy as it was about ratings.

Speaking of Hannity, he just had to use the 'J' word on Maddow just to get his mouth breathing minions fired up.

Yeah, you're really on to something there (sarcasm).

"Does anybody really believe that a reporter, who nobody ever heard of, "went to his mailbox" and found my tax returns? @NBCNews FAKE NEWS!" - Trump's tweet this morning at 3:55 am

The Donald, as buffoonish as he is, just trolled MSNBC hard. Even at 4am. Another tweet at 7am. I guess he was up before 4.

Exactly. Btw, her show is now beating both CNN and Fox.

Fox News topped all other basic cable networks in total viewers for the eighth consecutive month, according to Nielsen Research.

In February, Fox earned the top spot by averaging 1.75 million total viewers throughout the broadcast day, compared to 1.15 million for Nickelodeon and 902,000 for Home and Garden Television (HGTV).

In primetime, Fox averaged 2.9 million viewers, a 31 percent increase from February of 2016.

The 21st Century-owned cable news network was also up 39 percent in the key 25-54 demographic that advertisers covet most, with 592,000 total viewers. In total viewers and the key demographic, Fox beat MSNBC and CNN in both categories combined.
Leading the way as the most-watched show in cable was "The O'Reilly Factor," which airs weeknights at 8 p.m. ET. "Tucker Carlson Tonight" was second in cable news and the fifth highest-rated program overall in cable.

Compared to Megyn Kelly's performance as host of "The Kelly File" in February of 2016, Carlson is up 31 percent in total viewers with 3.28 million and is up 55 percent in the key demographic with 695,000 viewers.

Overall, Fox News had 13 of the top 15 programs in cable news.

MSNBC's "The Rachael Maddow Show" and "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" were the only non-Fox programs to break the top 15, finishing seventh and 13th, respectively.

February 2017 was the network's 182nd consecutive month as the most-watched cable news channel in total viewers. It was also the network’s highest rated month since November 2016.

The "rubes" at MSNBC hyped this ALL day. They used an hour's programing to dissect it. Seems to me the "rubes" are at MSNBC for looking so very, very stupid.

I agree that this whole thing may have been orchestrated by Trump. But even if so he didn't put a gun to Rachel Maddow's head and force her misplay the whole thing and then look bad as a result. Trump makes people so crazy that they just can't think straight, which of course only ends up helping Trump.

Agree with you once again OP. She had a 2 page 1040 that gives a broad summary of taxes but not any details. She chose to hype it up. MSNBC hyped it all day. Now they and Maddow look like utter fools and Trump comes out on top. I don't know if he played her or not, but if he did, it was utterly brilliant.

I just don't understand a woman who is supposed to be so intelligent could look at that 1040 and conclude it was worth the hype. It makes zero sense.
