Down 7-0, our offense looked suspect, our D was playing well - what the hell was he thinking? No reason to risk it at that point. Could have punted and pinned us deep. Glad he made that dumb call.
And our QB was in the locker room at the time. Even Corso would have punted there.Down 7-0, our offense looked suspect, our D was playing well - what the hell was he thinking? No reason to risk it at that point. Could have punted and pinned us deep. Glad he made that dumb call.
I love it when we are so dominant that we begin to feel sorry for the other team.I said at the time "I'd be pissed if I was a UK fan."
You don't have to be conservative to punt in that situation. Just not stupid.I was very surprised at the decision. In my opinion Stoops is one of the most conservative coaches in football.
It certainly fired up our team.I would not have gone for it, but I sort of saw it as one of those moments where a team is struggling offensively, and the coach thinks it might fire them up to convert that 4th down. That running back was picking up yards in chunks, so it wasn’t a completely nonsensical move.
Of course, every play call is judged by whether it worked or not. If it worked, he would’ve been a riverboat gambler, genius.
but, I think he was just trying to fire up his team.
My high school has had some very good girls' basketball teams in the last decade and played in state championships, winning the last one. We've been to a few of their games. They're blowouts. Sometimes the other team doesn't score 10 points. You start cheering for the other team when they actually manage a score.I love it when we are so dominant that we begin to feel sorry for the other team.
Yep, it’s one of those high risk high reward, playcalling decisions. It certainly fired up our team.
My hometown's population was 50,000; our high school was in the states's largest athletic district; we had 2,500+ students. WE DID NOT FIELD A GIRL'S BASKETBALL TEAM.When I was in high school the only girls basketball game I went to the final score was 12-8. It was excruciating.
