Granted, ANYONE would be disappointed giving back 3 to par in the last 2 holes; and at the same time, putting at least 10 others back in the Tournament. But I gotta admit I'd have liked it a LOT more had he screwed on a smile with the post-round Press and at least tried to convince them he couldn't believe he still had the lead after spitting the bit so badly.
If the weather conditions are good enough for the field to go low today, it's equally good enough for Spieth to go equally low. So, I still think he's got the advantage IF his head is screwed on at least approximately right. But he SURE sounds like a kid struggling HUGELY with his confidence; then again, if he's 2 or 3 under after 5 today, maybe that's a distant memory by 400pm.
Of course, it's not the front 9 where he's had the most trouble the past couple days; but at least his toughest competition on paper (J Day, Dustin Johnson, Snedeker, Westwood, and R Mac) have at least 3 shots to make up, which admittedly isn't much at Augusta if scoring conditions are favorable. I just hope he can find a way to keep his driver in the fairway today (or at least out of the damned forest).
