Agreed, until he looks terrible for the first time against a legit SEC D and then people will want Barker back in there. Never fails.
He looks good but its NMSU. Lets calm down. We have done this crap for years. Everytime a QB does good against a nobody we go nuts. Lets stop.
It's definitely running through the back of my head. Johnson has performed admirably today and I agree with OP...he's earned the starting job. That being said he's got some issues and I agree with you...we'll be calling for him as soon as Carolina and Vandy who both have pretty decent defenses make him look below average.

Im not defending Barker. Im just saying Johnson probably isnt much better if any.
The thong that makes johnson better is his ability to run. Will keep defenses more honest....but sec defenses will give him fits, and expose his passing weaknesses...not to mention, were prob gonna have to score 60 to beat any sec opponent with this defense.
Too early. Give DCs the chance to game plan against him. If SJ is still producing in mid season, we'll talk.
Probably so, but last week we saw how Barker looks against an SEC defense and it was a horror show. Could Johnson possibly be any worse?
I know this was just a crappy New Mexico State defense today, but I really liked what Johnson showed. His running ability opens things up and gives our offense a whole new dimension it didn't have before. I hope he's our new starter.
He did have some sort of weird loyalty towards towles last season, regardless of how putrid towles play was we still kept him in there. No. Matter. What.
We found a defense worse than ours...having said that, he did some good things and I think the QB position should be wide open.
You won't find many that disagree. OP is right though. Johnson and Snell were impressive. Gran and Hinshaw are the only coaches on staff that don't suck.
I agree. His thong makes him so much better...allows him more freedom to run and much more comfortable.
