Clemson fans need to lighten up. You give any coach a prolonged time at any school and there are going to be down periods. People think Saban like success should be the norm. Odds are if they rode out a two or three year dry spell, they would rebound.

I think he miscalculated the importance of the portal. They just got their first player off it this past season and it's been around for years. Whether you agree or not with paying contracts to players, it's the nature of the game now. He thought he could work around it by recruiting talent, pumping the "we're a family" theme and pressuring most to stay four years. Yet he has no issue signing a $100M contract for himself. I'd imagine you'll see them getting a lot more guys off the portal this offseason as it's apparent they need help on both sides of the ball.

He's being confronted with some harsh realities. Still, that defense was thought to be premier. But they have a heavy load to carry.

True, but he is such a self righteous thin skinned tool he will blame the players and the fans.
