Before I met him, I read Tom Clancy's book, Shadow Warriors, and the general was mentioned in it as the guy who was in charge of the rescue plan for the Achille Lauro cruise ship back in the 80s. Of course, that rescue attempt never actually materialized. Very interesting to hear how they were going to do that. After reading that book, within a month, he shows up in my office. I had no idea who he was and he told me that he was retired Army. I mentioned the book I had just read and he said that he was mentioned in it. Small world. But I digress. He said that he was called to a meeting recently along with several other retired brass to brainstorm the ISIS threat. And that the military and intel communities are going to begin doing things that they have been previously prohibited from doing. Like the use of certain covers that have no been allowed. I could've talked to him for hours.
