He expects no healthcare bill to pass until after 2018. I expect Dems to block any health care bill. I expect Obamacare to continue. I expect premiums to soar. I expect insurer to exit the Obamacare market. I expect deductibles to soar. I expect the death spiral to continue.

Maybe then Dems will get on board to radically change if not completely change Obamacare and we can get something done.

The key question in 2018 would be, who do the people blame for their health care woes? The GOP for not getting something done or the Dems for blocking changes?

To recap, Republicans control the White House and both houses of Congress. Trump and the Republicans promised to repeal and replace Obamacare (now Trumpcare) and if you all continue to fail and haven't gotten that done by midterms 2018, it will obviously be on you all, good luck.

How in hell did we get here? Repeal and replace. Repeal the damned thing and let congress sit down and discuss why we get into replacing. Healthcare has not become a constitutional right has it? Our government cannot do everything for everyone. Let congress decide what we can do and afford to do. Get the hell out of decision-making for us all.

Ah, but the GOP does not have 60 votes in the Senate. The Dems can filibuster any bill that does not involved reconciliation. Therefore, the Dems can stop that bill in its tracks.

I agree with you. But as you know, once an entitlement is rolled out (expanded Medicaid) it is very hard to rein back in.

Either you keep your promises or you don't.

I honestly don't know who the people will blame and neither do you. The GOP can claim they passed the bill and the Dems blocked it. They can run ad after ad touting the bill and the Dems opposition. The Dems can do the same saying they stopped a terrible bill.

But if Obamacare continues its death spiral, costs go way up, choices go way down, who will the voters blame?

You can't claim to pass a bill, either it passes or it doesn't. Passing a bad bill will bring lots of bad press. Your margin for victory is slim.

Again, when the GOP filibustered a bill the media blamed the GOP. Will they do the same if the Dems filibuster a bill? Certainly, the GOP will air ads making that case. And if Obamacare implodes during this process, who will the people blame? It will be interesting.

Seems to me if the Dems are so sure the AHCA is bad legislation (like the Repubs said the ACA was) why not step aisde and just let them pass it and then watch the bottom fall out for them?

If the Dems want to assure Republican failure, let them pass their version of a turkey like the ACA was.

Isn't that what the Republicans did by refusing to vote for the ACA? Who got hammered for that?

Your side.

No I wasn't and I have never called for violence against any President. In fact, If I had been invited to the WH, I would have gone and met President Obama because of the office and the free food!!![cheers]

This is problematic for Republicans. Democrats keep throwing out "YOU CONTROL THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE!" Two senators doesn't qualify as CONTROL, IMO. Republicans will challenge each other, especially on issues like the Healthcare mess we as a Nation have gotten ourselves into. This thing is always going to need tweaking and will never be perfect. If ever we needed to work across the aisle it is for Healthcare both now and in the future. I'm not sure Trump cares what congress comes up with, he just want to fix the broke dick dog we have now. I'm not nearly as concerned with Republicans fussing among themselves as I am about Democrats marching in lock-step over every issue while 320 million Americans wait for the next load of crap that will eventually become a sad reality. "F America, maybe we can gain a couple of seats in 2018."
To that I say to the electorate Keep draining that swamp.
