Well.... There's no doubt he hates losing. He likes to score, too. The plays haven't been bad.

He hasn't thrown one of those balls 20 feet over someone's head or in the dirt. He also hasn't dropped one of that hit his hands, or left any receivers wide open.

I can't blame everything on him like some do... The players have really just dropped the ball in a lot of ways (metaphorically and literally)
That’s why it’s always sad when fans say “Shane” won/lost/did/didn’t this or that. That fundamentals/discipline/mistakes/etc fall on “Shane”. That “Indiana” or whoever the Cinderella de jour can “do it” and therefore so can we. That Spurrier “proved” this or that. The same things were said during Dietzel/Carlen/Holtz/and yes even Spurrier for crissakes; Morrison is about the only one that was given a pass by most. The fact is that it’s the players that are responsible for these do’s and don’ts, I’m sorry. And the other fact is that the players that populate the teams so envied by us did not and do not WANT to come to South Carolina, or they would have, and the ones that do ARE GIVEN the tools for fundamentals and motivation in spades; they either choose not to or are unwilling and in some cases incapable to lay out sufficiently to execute and demonstrate. And until the players that populate the envied teams develop or are given a “want to” in terms of coming to South Carolina, the coach’s name or pedigree is immaterial; that’s been demonstrated a thousand times over. It’s just p1ssing in the wind to believe differently.

It is the players who have made the plays, or failed to make the plays. I agree with you there.

I believe going too far in that direction absolves the staff, and ultimately the head coach.

Well, everybody was enamored with Clayton White when his group was helping us stay in games and the offense was abysmal. Now we have an O coordinator that is decent and everyone complains about white.

I'm pretty sure they haven't revolutionized the way they coach over 3 or 4 years time... And other schools wanted a lot of our players.... I think it's more on the players than people want to say.

I can understand an occasional busted play or whatever, but come on... No one is teaching them to let receivers be 10 yards open every time the QB scrambles, or teaching them to drop balls, etc.

So the thought is that Carolina will never have a competitive football team, so may as well keep Beamer. 🤢

I accept the fact that I will never get picked to play in the NFL. But I want to my ******* college team to at least be competitive. Coaching and playing football is what they do.

Our football history is one of mediocrity. But that doesn’t dictate the future. High a great coach and great supporting coaching staff - plus hit the chemistry right with recruiting and the portal, and we could win big.

Outside of Spurrier we have never had a coach who could produce like that.

And we've NEVER had a coach who left to here to be a HC anywhere else, which tells you that no coach here ever found success.

We're on a treadmill. We're working and spending and doing lots of activity but not getting anywhere.
Been arguing this on here for years. People actually think firing and hiring will do anything here at South Carolina. Two HOF coaches couldn't do it, but the latest flash in the pan will.......OK! Even if you ever did find a coach that had any success here, he would jump ship at the first good offer that came along.

6yrs enough.no consistency, horrible fundamentals, bonehead coaching moves, bad talent evaluation-see whole secondary, and just no player development, I mean none!!!!!!!! look at Indiana, msst, fla , our hiring process is so flawed, the last 2 with chump and beamer terrible, i'm betting donati is better, bring back beamer and expect nothing better and players jumping a sinking ship and a lot of donors with them, go watch men bball team , its going to b a historically bad yr how much more do u expect our fans to take
Dude, we have probably the best secondary coach in all of college football.

People seem to forget what kind of recruits we used to get prior to Spurrier. We were a solid 3-star football team. It was very rare to get a 4 star player and even more rare to be in the mix for a 5-star. Recruiting picked up under Spurrier and who was doing the recruiting work under Spurrier? It was Shane Beamer! When Shane left, the recruiting died, and so did the on the field performance. Shane has been lights out recruiting since he has been the head coach. I will admit it has taken him longer than it should to fire a few coaches, but you also have to remember it is his first time being a head coach. Starting over every 5 or 6 years is just ridiculous!

Bingo.

You know, when my family first moved here Dietzel was the football coach so granted was a while back. But support and “like” of your chosen football team was not based on on WIN WIN WIN or FIRE FIRE FIRE then HIRE HIRE HIRE like we were BAMA BAMA BAMA. USC was my team whose fortunes I followed; didn’t give a crap about anyone else (still don’t.) It was like my son’s team in whatever sport; they were a part of my life. The money: that’s the price of participation to get a coach today. Somewhere along the line fans decided it was like a business model, return on investment. It is not; it is entertainment. We are South Carolina, always been, always will be. This is not a plea to keep Shane Beamer, it is acknowledging that today’ South Carolina fans seek that which they will not find and they gnash teeth and wrent clothing because they can’t; make their own selves miserable. It’s both sad and humorous at once. As my quoted poster says, if we did land supercoach (which we already have in the past), the countdown to his departure begins immediately and square one begins warming up.

He runs a good program (results notwithstanding). The only thing to complain about is the on-field results (yeah, that's a pretty big complaint). But otherwise, he runs a good, clean program. He's very likable, unlike Muschamp. Less important, he likes it here. His family likes it here. Even if he did ever find success, he'd never leave.

The only option is to roll the dice on another coach who, with virtual certainty, will product comparable results.

If we accept that we are what we are (And after 130+ years, we simply have to. To do otherwise is delusion.), why not at least do it with a guy who is likable and loyal? At least then, we'll have some consistence and continuity. Let's end the frustration that comes with hiring a new coach, having hopes built up, only to see them come crashing down and starting the cycle over again 5 or 6 years later.

I know we're supposed to say we want to pursue greatness and all that, but, honestly, that's akin to me saying I'm going to pursue a career in the NBA. It just ain't happening.
Are you nucking futs?!
