If it is true that Jmi is requiring players to sign away all NIL rights and that Uk is the only school doing this it could entirely explain our inability to close the deal. Admittedly it is all pretty confusing but it could totally explain what is sabotaging Pope and undoing all his efforts. It could well be that this approach is more attractive to some players but a total no go for marquee elite type players.
It’s not true. From what I understand many schools like ucla and ND use JMI. I think this is bs to shield pope and get him another year. It’s baloney pope recruited this team and out paid for it

I don’t know why anyone wants to keep pope. We are in a race tone the winningest program in cbb. Kansas will catch us but another year of pope puts us in jeopardy to lose a lot of ground to UNCheat. Wake Up now!!! It’s not wise to procrastinate even if your heart is on the right place. Hopefully Mark leaves on his own. You need to be a certain person in to win at UK: You need a big ego. You need to command respect based on a history of personal winning? And you need to have an infectious personality so players want to play for you.

.

I agree, and that’s why if he was fired today you’d get no complaints for me. I just think it’s important to have men involved here that care about the program but they have to win too. Rupp era guys carried this for decades and they’re too old or gone now. Calipari era guys aren’t really those types of UK guys. Pitino era players aren’t what the guard is now. We need them. That’s why I’m even being a little more patient. But if he was fired I’d say okay.

JMI is small. Do you see UCLA being UCLA is the 70’s. I don’t think Notre Dame is JMI either.

JMI is not a large entity in this game. They’re trying to be. Their main players other than UK are UCLA, Ivy League, Pittsburg lol. All of the major players are Learfield and now Playfly. Those do not have the stipulations that JMI does.

UCLA uses them for NIL consultancy, Notre Dame uses them strictly for marketing only.

While the JMI issue (if true) is hamstringing Pope, it's going to hamstring anyone who comes after him as well. It won't just be players balking at UK. Anyone think Bruce Pearl or Nate Oats wants to hurt their career by taking a job that prevents them from getting the talent they need to succeed?

Once again, Mitch has hurt this university beyond repair, at least until 2040 (probably so he can line his and his buddies pockets). Of course UK could try to exit the contract, which would likely mean severe monetary penalty. Who wants to pony up that money after paying off Mitch's other F up in the form of a $30M+ buyout?

Did you not read what it said about Pope in that article? You blindly supported Stoops to so I’m not surprised that you’re completely ignoring that aspect. SMH idk how you guys get these man crushes on coaches that you can’t admit when they’re messing up LOL
I never blindly supported Stoops. All I did was post factual information that caused a temper tantrum from you because it did not fit your agenda. I never posted one complaint or even questioned it when they fired him. I did not read that entire article. I commented on what the synopsis said about signing away all Nil rights.
