I’ll add that I kinda like the dude. We seem to have pretty similar values and outlook on politics and faith. Pearl isn’t a perfect person but I would have loved for him to be a Wildcat in a different reality. In this reality I’m happy with who we have

I absolutely understand why fans always take the sanctimonious approach when it comes to coaches and talk about everything they ever did “wrong” but I’ll tell you:

1.) I don’t think it matters at the end of the day. We hang banners, not lists of kind acts. If we had a coach that was winning titles but was a jerk I wouldn’t be sad. Pope is an awesome person and that is excellent bonus to me, but that’s what it is —- bonus.

2.) I wonder if you had a news ticker on your forehead that displays every internal thought you had for the world to see, I bet we would find out that you aren’t perfect, just like I’m not perfect. It’s one thing if you’re talking about someone who did something that was literally egregious on a degree that mattered but most of the stuff fans complain about with some of these coaches is petty in the grand scheme.

Respect if you disagree but that’s where I’m coming from on it.
