I quit watching probably 10-15 years ago. It got boring...too corporate...too buttoned up. With that said, I do like to go to a race on occasion at RIR. When we moved here, you couldn't get tickets. Now they are readily available and in fact, they had to close down part of the seating because it never sold out.(the Daytona 500) and this year I'm just not excited for it...
Ownership has really done a good job of killing off their product.

You you ever been to Watkins Glen?I can honestly say I haven't watched in ages...did see Nascar live once years ago in Michigan and it was quite something live. On TV nowadays it gives me the impression of of dinky cars in a bathtub. Saw the Indy 500 once and that was a treat back in the day (20 years ago I think). I watch a bit of the Indy car racing now...I used to watch it religiously before the CART /IRL split, and that split F'd it for me for over a decade.
My racing go to now is the re-branded American Le Man's series ( IMSA Weathertech Sports Car), damn fast cars (Prototypes and GT'S) , world class drivers, on some absolutely beautiful race courses....given it is a bit of a challenge to follow with so many different makes on the the track, but imo that keeps it interesting. I go to the one at Mosport here (15 mins from my door :smileyyearly, wander the track in the forest and find my spot on a hill, chair, radio and cooler in hand. I am hoping to get to either Lime Rock or Road America tracks this year for once. I would love to see them in person, they look so good on TV....
I have not...and always wanted to. Not too far away for me either ...maybe 4-5 hours? Another one that 'looks pretty on TV'. An unusual race setup for Nascar as well. Would you recommend the Nascar or the Lemans/GT's there? You you ever been to Watkins Glen?
For the record bornaneer...I used to do the Toronto Indy year over year and I just couldn't justify it anymore price wise. That says something about a fella who gets chills down his spine when they fire up or come down the straight. After paying 150 a seat or more and then being forced to purchase 12 dollar beer I pretty much had it. I love the aspect of being able to bring my own suds and food...like tailgating it is a Libertarian right!...and affordable! You you ever been to Watkins Glen?
I have never been there. IndyCar will be there in Sept. I think Lemans/GT's would be better.I have not...and always wanted to. Not too far away for me either ...maybe 4-5 hours?
