Keep building and keep getting better. Good things are ahead. Need more depth. Missed some big pass plays today that could make a difference. Hope to hit those down the road
I agree. Still think we have a shot at a bowl game this year.

I saw an offense that doesn’t play with confidence at all and a defense that is fundamentally very poor. I don’t see a bowl game absent a miraculous turnaround.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy. Our tires have been spinning in the mud prior to Beamer and unfortunately we are STILL rebuilding.
One, Ray Tanner, should have been fired long ago for overseeing this crap. But they won’t so we are stuck without a culture and being mediocre and selling hype pre-season. I’m still optimistic about beamer but… most of his recruits will be here in ‘23 and will be young. It’s kind of a wait till next year, and then against after that. This year I just don’t see us beating anyone else in the SEC not named Vanderbilt or Missouri. This is a 4 win season or 5 if we are lucky. It’s bullsh*#!!!

It takes 5 years, that's what THEY say, this is year 2. We have at least 2 more years of disappointment before we turn the corner.
This is SC though we ought to be able to handle that, I've had probably 50 years of it.

IF you are right, the season will be sucky. IF that is the result, Beamer will have to do a REAL evaluation of the coaches, this time. He said, last year, he would do so after the season. I don't believe for even a second that he did a real evaluation last year. I think he simply went through the motions, having made a pre-determined decision.

We played better than we did against Ga St, which isn’t surprising. We have a history of playing to our competition. I expect we’ll get destroyed by UGA, but it would not surprise me one bit if we played reasonably well only to struggle with Charlotte the next week.

I thought Rattler had good protection this week, had good pocket protection. I hope he can work out those deep patterns, they were open.

If he had that bad decision back, the endzone int, it woulda been a game. Boy, that was a killer, hope he learns from his mistakes.

Hopefully the 6th win will be Kentucky,Florida or Tennessee none of those teams look like world beaters. We should beat Charlotte, SC State, Vanderbilt and Misery.
I agree we should beat those teams. So with that said W's come against Ga State, Charlotte, SC State, Vandy and Mizzou.
That resume does not give me great confidence in beating any of the teams you mentioned.

He’s a gunslinger so you take the bad picks along with the crazy good throws. He hasn’t shown the latter yet is the problem. You are right we had some deep balls open yesterday, a couple likely would have TDs. And he overthrew an open receiver in the end zone on a deep ball. Our success depends on whether he can he start hitting those throws.

Bottom line.........we aren't happy with where we are, but we are light years ahead of same time last year. We didn't even have a receiver at the start of last year nor a QB. I will keep the faith cause I have to............I need 4-5 more games for a sample size. We were better yesterday than last week IMO. Not good enough, but b4 the season we felt like this was probable loss.

Watch/listen to the podcast with Perry Orth and Michael Scarnecchia with Gamecock Central’s Mike Uva. Good listen. I'm pissed about yesterday, but Orth nails it. He's very knowledgeable. Keep the faith people and this team will keep getting better. Don't give up yet......as a society I believe the instant gratification need is detrimental to progress.

My boys wrestled in HS. I heard the coach talking to them one day about becoming a champion in a sport like wrestling where you have to get your butt kicked and work to get better. There is no instant gratification. He said you know why all these people play basketball, cause they sink a shot and it's instant gratification. Most of them would never put in the work it takes to be a champion wrestler. He is right. I played the big three, and what my boys endured to be good in wrestling was light years of what the football teams do. SC football has to use that approach. Everyone works hard..........so are you willing to work harder.

It shouldn't take 5 years. The good coaches seem to make big strides in year 2 after having a season and an offseason to put their culture in place and weed out the players that won't buy in. 6 wins isn't out of the question, I don't think Florida is as good as they think they are and A&M showed they can lose to anybody on a given day. Tennessee's defense is weak enough that they can be beat as well. Dare we dream of beating clemson this year? They have some serious issues on offense and if we can find a way to move the ball on their defense, which is very good, we have an actual chance to win that game.

This tune has been played thousands of times, this year will be another 5-6 or 6-6 year ending with a thrashing by CU.

I don't think we'll really have any good idea of what we have until week 6 when we play Kentucky. Heck, for that matter, other than Georgia, I'm not sure anybody knows how good anybody else is until they get 4 or 5 games under their belt. I think Arkansas is going to have a big season. Based on what we've seen, I see no reason to think they couldn't win the West. It's a long and dynamic season. Things change a lot between week 2 and week 12.

Then feel free to leave Gamecock fandom. Did you post during our 5 game streak over the taters…I doubt it. You joined today to say that. Another in-the long line of pretend fans paid by the tater media team. You think Russians try to infiltrate sites…the taters invented it. But nice try.

As it always is with us, it's a matter of whether or not we can improve. Saturday's performance COULD be a building block if and only if we build off of it. We did a number of things better against Arky than we did against Ga St. OL was better. Rattler was certainly better (putting the best QBR by a Gamecock QB on the road since 2018).

Running game is still abysmal, and that's being generous.

watch the second touchdown in these clips. Stop the tape when Jefferson hands the ball off. This displays two things: #1. it is difficult to defend a monster QB who can run. He is good and keeps the D honest. See how the DE (Burch) has to stay home to defend against Jefferson tucking and running off the tackle. #2. The other point is Burch???????? Clowney would have stopped the RB for a 3 yrd lose. Where is Burch? I have written it here before, something is awry. He is often dejected on the sidelines and sits alone. The effort on this second AR TD is troubling. Yes the LB should have been in tighter, but Burch had contain. Nobody can get outside of him. He has to contain. He was way out of position. Lots of special counsel and personal coaching is given on the sidelines to him. Where is the fire man? This kid has more natural ability than anyone on the field. How are we gonna tap into it. Come ON Jordan, play with reckless abandon man. There were a couple of plays where he did launch into the backfield and create a little havoc. He didn't make the tackle but changed the course of the play. I love this kid and pray he goes fierce on Georgia.

Out of 131 teams, we are 125th in Rushing Offense and 129th in Rushing Defense. That's beyond poor. The other parts of the game will result in little if you can't run the ball nor stop the run. You are not going to win many games if you can't solve the running game. Hope Beamer figures it out.

Yep. It's not a complicated problem.

I'm not even sure what hope there is of fixing the glaring OL problem midseason.

Not being able to run the ball and not being able to stop the other team from running the ball makes for long Saturdays in college football. I guess the only upside to not being able to stop the run is that your pass defense stats looks a lot better since no one bothers to throw the ball against you.
