I’m seeing a 8-10 point win. No team is gonna run through this conference and it’s time for miss st to get their first loss. Plus pope will have these guys ready and playing with a purpose. We won’t be dominated on the glass, Kobe Brea really doesent have 2 bad shooting nights in a row. The defense will be intense from the start. 81-71. Go cats.

That's always a tough but fun game - its like a tier 2 rivalry or something

I think we win this one as well

Rough tough "Physical" conference -- but its also going to be awfully hard to get 2 in a row against UK

Should be fun !

We are going to have to defend and quit giving up 40+ in halves to teams, idc who we play but that is not going to lead to long term success. We’ve shown to the ability to shoot like 8% from 3 in games and have stretches where we can’t score so better learn how to defend and REBOUND.

Defense and rebounding take zero talent, this team isn’t super talented so we should be fundamentally sound in all aspects but we can’t stay in front of anyone or block anyone out.

Tell tell sign is when Miss St shoots fts, see if any bigs blocking out or just standing in front of them.

Technically defense does take talent. A god given talent of quickness and lateral quickness. And we have a few guys who have it and few guys who don’t but gotta play the hand we were dealt and defend at the highest level of the type of athletes we have.

I hope we get a better whistle and I hope you are right! Would be a huge win! Hopefully we can take a step forward and the guys come together to fight for and earn a road win.

We don’t have to pressure the ball 50ft from the goal either though, defense is a want to & an attitude mostly. It helps to be super quick but you don’t have to be in someone’s face to be a good defensive team. We don’t have the speed for that but can still keep people in front of us 22ft and in, that’s a want to and something we need to embrace. The defensive play isn’t done until we get the rebound either.

I have to honestly say…it’s been depressing watching this board fall completely off the wagon. It seems most of the people only remember the most recent game when we lose and I cannot believe you, of all people, are out here reminding people that we have a good, albeit flawed, team that can absolutely pull off massive wins. Am I picking a win in Starkville? I’m on the fence. Can they win down there? Absolutely, they can. Thank you for shining a little bit of positivity on our team that has been better than anyone expected preseason. Go Cats!

I’m negative when I see a team not putting forth effort. Which is what I’ve seen in all the losses. And all the double digit deficits to the other teams.

I'm eager to see how the game is officiated.

If they're extra physical again, what adjustments has Pope been able to make in response to the last game?

Also, Hubbard lit is up last time we went to Starksville. The sophomore is averaging 17 points and shoots 38% from 3. I'm interested to see what the game plan is for him.

Lastly, my biggest concern is still our rebounding. We give up too many offensive rebounds. We tip too many balls we should grab. We don't box out. And ultimately it hurts us. I think if we can clean that up and be more consistent on the glass--we'll win some games we shouldn't. I think if the rebounding had been better, we steal the Clemson game.

If we can find a way, this is another HUGE win. And will more than make up for the loss at Georgia on Tuesday.

Honestly, I don’t think this team played through the physicality thrown at them which is why every one makes it their game plan. However, I did see the Cats starting to get physical and doing some rowdy things last game, they just need to hide it better.

I would anticipate a much better performance by the Cats on Saturday. I had UK losing 80-76 to UGA, but the Cats just couldn't throw in the ocean (and yet were only 7 pts away from my prediction of 76 pts).

I think UKs shooting will be better tomorrow, but I worry about Miss St quick guardplay and outside shooting at home. The crowd will be stoked, and UKs toughness will once again be tested.

UK plays better, but I have Miss St winning 84-79. Go Cats.

Exactly- effort does not take talent and it looks like our guys are just going thru the motions for long stretches at a time- would love to see Pope bench some players to send a message and they will either get it or they will not- do you think Trent Noah could so any worse than Robinson- guarantee you he would put forth more effort

When Pope played, he was not the most talented but gave a lot of effort to rebounding- not sure why he can't get this team to do the same

Cats have won 18 in a row against MSU....that ends tomorrow unless we get a Brea 7/9 from three performance or a Butler vs UL type game from someone.

I’ve felt like this game would be a loss for a while. Of course I hope I’m wrong and the op is right. I would be very happy if we got a W there. I think a lot of things would have to go right, like not many turnovers, a couple players being hot from 3 and rebounds and free throws at least being close to even.

4 point underdog.
I'll check the score on occasion. I aint watching this one. It's not worth the drama
What drama? It’s a tough road game that UK could lose or very well could win as well. Don’t understand how a fan would not watch this game.

Up to a 5 point underdog. Vegas does not think too highly of this team.

Hope we prove ‘em wrong!

I agree that I think we get the win.
The couple of times I've watched Miss St this year, I've not been that impressed.
Also, I think it is common for teams to both play better vs a tougher opponent (UGA compared to MSU), and to play better after a loss.

But I think it will be a 2-4 pt game, back & forth all night. 87-84 UK.

I expect to get a more even whistle as the officiating is being spotlighted right now in combination with MSU being a ranked opponent that is likely on the safe side of the bubble at this time and has chances for other key wins.

Now…doesn’t mean we win…but I don’t expect to be outshot by 20+ from the line and 50% of MSUs points to come from freebies

Talent and effort. Some of our guys give genuine effort on defense. Others tried to hide behind circumstances.

MSU has that 1 small guard, that shoots the lights out. He will probably start hitting shots from the dressing room.
They have guys that play rough & UK, for what ever reason, does not. can't see how it isn't 2nd consecutive loss tomorrow.
