I thought Obamacare was supposed to reduce costs

On June 1, HuffPost Live host Josh Zepps and Huffington Post senior national correspondent Jonathan Cohn talked about the unaffordability of Obamacare. In the segment, "What If The Affordable Care Act Isn't Affordable?," Cohn admitted that "rate increases look higher" for 2016 than in previous years, based on proposals that insurers were required to submit to the government by June 1. Companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico reportedly want to increase their premiums by as much as 50 percent.

"It’s not clear, you know, where we’re going to end up," Cohn said. "But there are hints of it [substantially higher rates], enough that I think serious people are looking at this and saying, 'Yeah, that might be the case.'"

In a May 23 article, Cohn said, "According to the insurers, the people who signed up for their policies in 2014 are running up higher medical bills than the insurers had anticipated." He said this was in part because "healthy people aren’t lining up for coverage" to the extent some insurers and analysts had predicted.

No ******* ****. As was stated when this ******** was being proposed. Kids in their 20s (healthy people) aren't going to pay for this, the "fine" is cheaper.

This could be the next bubble in the economy to burst. Not student loans, which could be a problem as well, but health care will burst in this country as premiums become more and more un-affordable, and costs continue to sky rocket. The government will be drained with the subsidies and people will stop paying for insurance and for care.

They still charge $7 for an asprin and nothing in the ACA is going to stop that.

Just another example of poor leadership.

Is there any chance to get this thing fixed?

The law is fundamentally flawed. Mandating that the young and healthy subsidize the sick is not going to work, especially in Obama's economy. This law does nothing to lower costs. Blow it up and start over.

Why haven't any libs posted defending Obamacare? After all, keep your doctor, keep your hospital, keep your plan and lower costs at the same time. Wow. Who wouldn't want that. I guess Pelosi was finally right. We had to pass the bill to find out what's in it.

They are still trying to decide if they should read it or not.
