If kids today only understood what it was like when MTV first came out. I was in high school when it started. We used to get together and sit around and watch for hours on end.

No, it was just on very few cable systems when it first came out.Wasn’t MTV a cable channel you had to pay for when it started? I remember having to flip a switch on the cable box, like I did for HBO & Spotlight (precursor to Showtime for the younger ppl). But, I was only 8 so I could definitely be wrong.
You're a little ahead of me, but not by much. I was barely four when MTV launched in the summer of 1981. We didn't get cable in my neck of the woods until the fall of 1983 (just in time to watch Star Wars debut on HBO in the spring of '84).
In twenty-five years, kids today will be like:

I’m 53 alsoFirst video i remember seeing on MTV. I am 53 now and it needs to be changed to RTV. I miss the Headbangers Ball, World premiere Videos, and Hip Hop shows MTV Raps was my favorite.. It is kind of funny, but just Friday I received my MTV T-shirt I ordered I ordered off of a Retro t-shirt site. Looks mighty cool if I don't say so myself.
Some memorable videos :
Thriller
Billy Jean
Lick It Up - KISS, first time without make up.
Smoking In The Boys Room - Motley Crue
Plus tons of the 80's glam band videos.

Also made clear deodorant a best seller after LL Cool J’s set.MTV unplugged was great, made 10,000 Maniacs a ton of money after they decided to break up. Turned Nirvana and Pearl Jam into superstars.
Someone mentioned the Thriller video above. Didn't they have like a late night special for the World Premiere release of the video. Seems like I remember staying up late to watch and even recording it on a good ole VCR VHS tape!
Don’t forget Channel 6. Public Access. Lots of creative stuff on there.Telecable Channel 14.

It was cool and weird Michael having his Sister Janet be his girlfriend for the video.
Doubt it, considering he’s been dead for almost 9 years. He hates the song looking back on it.
It was Ola RayThey did. even had Vincent Price who was the voice in the song. It was cool and weird Michael having his Sister Janet be his girlfriend for the video. They where walking down a dark road him with rolled jeans and a letter jacket. His little sissy voice when they first saw the werewolf was comical. Then it switches to a movie theater with them eating popcorn. Michael was a BMF, but wayyyyy too feminant.
Funny thing about the warrant video Cherry Pie, Jani Lane said it was their absolute worst song ever made and hated playing it in concert. Said the song while very popular and put them on the map, also labled them as "The band that sang Cherry Pie" and affected their being taken seriously as a rock band. He hates the song looking back on it.
Original 5 VJ's
Mark Goodman
Martha Quinn
Alan Hunter
Nina Bkackwood
JJ Jackson (JJJ) passed away in 2004, RIP triple J.
VJ's I liked thru the years
Daisy Fuentes (obvious reason why)
Downtown Julie Brown - cool, very energetic
Riki Rachtman - Did the headbangers ball.
Sad, and I know times change, but going from Music TV to reality tv (RTV) made it unwatchable. About the only thing that was watchable was the Ed Lover and Doctor Dre' (none NWA) do the spring break and Yo MTV Raps.
Haven't thought about liquid television in forever...aeon Flux.Headbangers Ball, Liquid Television, Alternative Nation, Beavis and Butthead....Staying up late in Middle School to catch the music they didn’t play a lot during the day was eye opening for me.
Strike 2Doubt it, considering he’s been dead for almost 9 years.
