None of Joker's higher rated players did anything. The list went on and on of guys Joker signed that did squat for the program. The part that made me laugh is where Matt Jones said Joker's recruiting classes weren't terrible. I mean maybe for a middle of the pack MAC team but it was atrocious for SEC football.
Didn't you also say you heard Brown thought Reese was the best QB? Or was that Matt?
Stoops and knowing offense in the same sentence...that is a good onei watched reese play against ut and he looked worse than a banged up pat. i liked (well, i still do) reese but i just dont see the talent everyone kept seeing. i only went to a couple spring games and watched as much practice tape as i could find (which wasn't much) but barker and towles were clearly better qb's than reese.... now reese may have had a thing or 2 he did better than the other 2 but he did transfer to montana and pat transferred to pitt.... got to think that stoops isn't the only one that wouldn't play the better reese over a worse towles????
I'm talking about the guy that hired Dawson actually. Us running out of shotgun from one is every bit of stoops fault as much as it is Dawson's. Stoops saw no wrong in the play call, so he let it happen.Your talking about Dawson and play calling. He sucked. I don't see Stoops making his oc pick anybody but who was most effecient.
That was me. Same source.
I mean listen to the podcast? Him and jones had a conversation that if it was the case that stoops thought Reese was the best then why didn't he play...... Jeez man.Entirely clear, and makes sense. But the point there is no matter how you say it, some will walk away with the understanding the Stoops definitely told Phillips he was the best, which makes him either a liar or incompetent.
Ok Stoops hired Dawson and it did not work. We have still won 10 games the last two years after winning 9 the previous 3. We are making progress with depth and talent. We play against teams with top 15 recruiting classes annually. This thing is going to take time. Stoops saw the dumpster fire that was Dawson and went out and got 2 very experienced Coordinators. UK will be at worst decent on offense this year. If I where you I would jump on the bandwagon.I'm talking about the guy that hired Dawson actually. One would also argue. We are 5-13 in our last 18 games with zero wins over D1 teams with winning records. The one team with a winning record. 6-5 FCS EKU. I don't think stoops is a good head coach. I think he's a good recruiter and that's as far as I'm going. As far as in game coaching, team looking very unprepared and not focused on multiple occasions, and just flat out horrible game management. Many times our team didn't look like they cared. Not sold on his coaching yet.Ok Stoops hired Dawson and it did not work. We have still won 10 games the last two years after winning 9 the previous 3. We are making progress with depth and talent. I mean. Does it take a rocket scientist to realize that's as bad of a play call as you could possibly choose in that situation? And 3 times in a row at that? Its equally as bad as giving towles power to audible out of a run play into a pass play at the goal line only to throw an INT in tripple coverage in the back of the endzone. Which is pretty bad.One minute we were complaining that Stoops supposedly had too much control of the offense, but now we are complaining that Stoops didn't step in enough on Dawson's play calling. I'm confused.
that's what im thinking happened. they were motivating them by telling they were doing good and could be a real difference maker just keep working. cant overlook the misinterpretation of kids either. could of been some comments like "you throw the best on this route and have the quickest release and best pocket awareness" or something like that and just run with it to mean "the best".Wouldn't be surprised if the coaches told every QB on the team they are the best. Just motivating to keep working hard and pushing each other.
it is why college football is so awesome, the unexpected always happens.....and the expected rarely. rewind the clock to just this past offseason, all the experts and commentators were blowing up Auburn. And at the same time saying Florida with their quarterback and offensive line questions would be terrible. How'd reality turn out for both?Yeah, rarely do experts predict the breakout season. And, breakout seasons are rare.
