This game hurts, but it's not like Georgia smacked us around like last year. A few plays the other way and we might've been headed to Knoxville with a chance for the SEC East title, but we can still finish with a 5-3 record in the SEC.
Because if we didn't choke this game away we would been in first place?
Florida lost today and we just had to continue to take care of business. Florida could very well still lose the next two, but we had this within our grasp against a beatable team and we let it slide through our grasp.

Florida will lose to LSU, UT beat the team we should've just beat on a Hail Mary. Winning the east was very possible.

Yea it hurts, but if that's the best we can do on defense the last minute, we can't hold any team. They drove down the field on us like it was nothing, so easy. You can't give an eight yard cushion with a minute left, every 3rd play they get a first down. It shouldn't have come down to that anyway. Sickening feeling, we should have won the game.
I didn't think we would win the east (we would have to win in neyland or have both ut AND uf lose out) but I would like to see a winning conference record before I die.

Nope. If we would have won tonight we would have either had to win in neyland (even with a uf loss to lsu) or florida would have had to lose out.
We still would have had to win at UT. But that would have been fun to shoot for.

I never thought we were going to win the east this year even before this game and I'm one of the more positive fans on this board but I'm not a dreamer either . You guys were ready to fire Stoops and excercise a buyout and now you think we had a good shot at the east title ? Good touching grief , stop being so extreme .You may have wanted the east but we are not ready for that , too many flaws and holes to fill . Next year I think we will have a chance to compete for it , we're learning this year and it shows .

When did I say we should buy him out? I'm a fairly patient guy. I also understand how standings work, and how math works.
So I understand that because we did a little better than expected, and some other teams were worse than usual, we had an unusually good opportunity to win the East.
Never said I expected to win the East, but my football knowledge is rich enough to understand that we had a shot. Also my understanding of basic probability helps.

Mathematically , yes . But that doesn't mean we have team to win it and we don't yet but you can't see that . It's not my problem that you can't realistically value our team and see what the limitations are . We had a very small chance and I posted as much yesterday , we beat the worst teams in our division which is a good step but we're not ready to beat the upper echelon teams that have more talented players .

We beat them there in '84. Not that all those terrible games we played there when we sucked have any bearing on our next game.
I didn't and don't expect to win down there. But this team has a better shot than most, and it would have been fun to go in there with the East on the line.
