Week 7 in the I8 and we have some must win match ups.

Manteno @ CC - Manteno did get their first win last week and has that to build on. The QB seems to be getting a bit better with time. CC comes off a shutout win over Sandwich and has everyone pretty close to 100 %. I don't see Manteno putting up much of a fight here. CC 34 Manteno 7

Lisle @ Streator - Lisle makes the long trip down to Streator after their close call against RC last week. Streator just gave Manteno their first win last week and is not playing good at all. Lisle answers the wake up call from last week and jumps all over Streator early and often. Lisle 42 Streator 13

Sandwich @ Plano -
Plano coming off their biggest win of the year against Peotone and is becoming very dangerous late in the season. Sandwich got controlled by CC last week and didn't out up a lot of fight. I suspect Sandwich running back will be ready to go this week. They will keep it close but Plano will be too much for them. Plano 27 Sandwich 14

Wilmington @ RC -
Wilmington got the running game back on track again last week in a gig win against Herscher. RC controlled I8 Small Champion Lisle for most of the game but let it slip away at the end. Interesting game, Wilmington has been so up and down this year they have been hard to predict. RC has gained momentum the last few weeks but haven't secured the win. Wilmington knows this is must win and will get it down on the ground. Wilmington in a shoot out. Wilmington 40 RC 30

GAME OF THE WEEK Peotone @ Herscher -
Both teams lost big impact games last week. Herscher got dominated by Wilmington last week but was missing key players due to injury. Peotone dropped a tough one to Plano. Both teams need this game but Herscher needs it more since Peotone has Streator and Manteno left to play. Herscher again will not be able to stop the run and Peotone runs away with this one. Peotone 35 Herscher 20

Week 7 in the wild & wooly I-8:

Coal City hosts Manteno...Panthers caught the Bulldogs last week, while the Coalers just keep mining wins...Havng watched three completely different Panther teams weeks 1, 3 & 6 tells me that the Panthers should be pretty darn good next year...But this year, the Coalers are going to keep mining wins, and their defense is considerably better than Streator. Coalers big...

Lisle @ Streator...I watched the Bulldogs give up a lot of rushing yards to the Panthers last week, which does not bode well for facing McGrath & Lisle...Lions will be the second straight felines to claw past the Bulldogs...

Sandwich @ Plano...couple of weeks ago, the opinion on this game would be completely different...Indians weaponry has dulled since beating Manteno week 3, while the Reapers have harvested a couple of unexpected wins...Reapers harvest another one...

Peotone @ Herscher...two teams that got thumped last week...Tigers continued to have trouble with the power run against Wilmo, who also got a pawful of ints...I have to figure that the Tigers problems stopping the power run continue, so the Devils move closer to their playoff goals...

Wilmington @ RC...been a long time since the Wildcats needed a win against the Comets this badly...RC's resurgence since the 4th quarter against Herscher has been incredible...RC's sophs last fall played truly tough against the Cats, losing by one...Wildcat defense has to continue ball-hawking against the Comets like they did against the Tigers last week...Wilmo in another potentially wild one...

Busy week so no scores

CC easy
Lisle fairly easy
Plano tough game.....plano is actually seeming tough....could pose problems for Wilmo in last week of the season
Peotone
Wilmo could be tough but shouldn't be

How tough could Plano be? They lost to Aurora Central Catholic!

Gambletron...

[2018] Peotone (IL) 31, [2018] Herscher (IL) 22
[2018] Plano (IL) 35, [2018] Sandwich (IL) 22

Why isn't Wilmo @ R-C the Game of the Week?
[2018] Wilmington (IL) 35, [2018] Reed-Custer (Braidwood, IL) 31

This looks like a "must win" to be playoff eligible for Wilmo coming in at 3-3.
