Last week was pretty straight forward and basically a gimme in terms of predicting the games. This week looks to be a little more challenging before the conference slate starts in week 3.
Harvard (0-1) @ Braidwood (0-1) - Harvard is basically the Braidwood of their Conference, however when they played last year Harvard emerged victorious. Both teams are coming off a loss and probably realize that their playoff chances are already gone for the year. Until Braidwood shows me some competence, I will have to choose against them. Let's go with the same score as last year's game. Harvard 21 - Braidwood 14
Coal City (1-0) @ Richmond Burton (1-0) - GOTW! I think this one has potential for an old fashioned donnybrook. Two great programs with RB getting the edge the last time the two met in the playoffs with a great CC class, the RB class was special too. I think CC is focused and already playing at a high level. If they can win this one watch out 4A playoff field. If they lose, I still think they are in great shape and getting a tough opponent in is crucial since they should walk through the rest of the season until week 9. I like the Coalers in a tight one. CC 24 RB 21
Bishop Mac (1-0) @ Herscher (1-0) - I was surprised last year when the Tigers came away with a win in this one. I guess I do not pay much attention to Mac though. Both teams were close to a playoff spot and I think that both teams will be close again this year. Mac had a more convincing week 1 win and I would assume they have to have the better athletes on the field. As much as I hate to pick them give me the luck of the Irish. Mac 35 Herscher 21
Plano (0-1) @ Manteno (1-0) - Old school I-8 matchup that I am glad is still in tact. I am not doubting Manteno this year like some are. I think that they are a program that is trying to be a mid level player in the ICE again. Panthers at home. Manteno 42 Plano 28
Marengo (1-0) @ Peotone (1-0) - Rematch of a OOC last year. Marengo thumped Stillman and Peotone thumped a massive (but bad) Granite City team. Will Peotone be looking ahead to the Wilmo game next week? I doubt it. Devils win over Marengo again. Tone 35 Marengo 27
Streator (1-0) @ Ottawa (1-0) - Hard one to pick. Is Streator finally going to be a competitive team? How is Ottawa? Big rivalry game from what I would guess just based on proximity. Ottawa had a more suitable week 1 so I like the experience that they gained to push them ahead in this one. Ottawa 28 Streator 14
Sandwich (0-1) @ Wilmington (0-1) - Another old school I-8 matchup. I am wiling to bet that the loss to Morris has pissed the Cats off and they are going to be in hyperdrive until they see CC in Week 9. Sorry Sandwich but you are gonna get eaten up. Wilmo 42 Sandwich 7
