I know this is a little early and we are still unpacking week 1, but I can't sleep and I have the time to look at this now

ICE Power Rankings

1) Wilmo (1-0)- champs until otherwise
2) CC (1-0)- still holding here strong
3) Manteno (1-0)- solid win over a solid team
4) Peotone (1-0)- was this win the return of the tone?
5) RC (1-0)- win doesn't tell us much
6) Lisle (1-0)- I don't want to jump the gun and I really want to see more data
7) Herscher (0-1)- that was a needed win and they didn't perform
8) Streator (0-1)- gonna be a long year

Week 2 Games

Decatur (St. Theresa) (1-0) @ Braidwood (1-0) - I know it seems like Ol' Wilmatucky just loves to hate on Braidwood, but I don't feel like the glorified practice against Harvard is much to beat the chest about. St. T beat Quincy Notre Dame and that is a pretty solid win IMO. I do think that the Comets are in the middle of the ICE, but this one will be a little too much for them. They will keep it close though. St. T 28 Braidwood 21

Morris (1-0) @ Coal City (1-0) - GOTW! Big powerhouse matchup for the Coalers and a big rivalry as well. Morris beat Lemont with ease and would like to do the same to the CC. CC didn't have much of a game after their storm delay this weekend, but the talk around the area is that this is one of the tougher CC teams as of late. If the Coaler defense can play physical ball and get a few turnovers I think this has potential for a great game. I think it is close to start then Morris gradually pulls away to a two score victory. Morris 35 CC 21

Herscher (0-1) @ Bishop Mac (0-1) - The loss to Canton has told me all I need to know about where Herscher is at currently. Mac Rolls Mac 45 Herscher 7

Lisle (1-0) @ Elgin St. Edward (1-0) - Although it was a nice win for Lisle after a year off, I still need to see more. St. Eddie is no world beaters, but I think they have enough to sneak past Lisle. I do think this will be a good game given the points Lisle put up in week 1. Eddy 41 Lisle 31

Manteno (1-0) @ Plano (0-1) - Plano has not been good for awhile and Manteno had a quality win in week 1. Manteno 35 Plano 13

Peotone (1-0) @ Marengo (1-0) - Marengo put up a ton against Streator which doesn't mean much. Peotone may be on the upward tick here, but I don't think they will be able to muster out the win. Should be a good one though. Marengo 30 Peotone 24

Ottawa (1-0) @ Streator (0-1) - Ottawa with ease. Ottawa 49 Streator 14

Wilmington (1-0) @ Morrison (1-0) - I would have liked to see more points from Wilmo in week 1, but a win is a win. No data on Morrison as they took a forfeit in week 1. I like the Cats to be a little stronger this week and I think they finally get the double wing rolling. Wilmo 28 Morrison 7

Morris/CC will be a battle, especially with CC being at home. Curious to know if anyone from the Morris staff went down to Pontiac on Saturday to take advantage of the suspended game and scout the Coalers.

I didn't get back to Pontiac for the second session of the game. My impression before the lightning strike was that the Coaler staff has plenty to work on this week to prepare for Morris. It is always said that the biggest improvements generally take place between week 1 and week 2. Here's hoping that the Coalers take a good leap forward.

Week 2 in the ICE 🧊

Decatur St. T (1-0) @ Braidwood (1-0) - This is a nice non con match-up. Should tell us a lot about both teams. St.T 40 RC 33

Morris (1-0) @ Coal City (1-0) - GOTW! The Warriors are probably the favorite here, but I have a feeling the Coalers are going to work out the kinks this week in practice. The parking lot fills up early! CC 28 Morris 24

Herscher (0-1) @ Bishop Mac (0-1) - Looks like the Tiger faithful are in for a very long season. Bishop Mac rebounds nicely. CLOCK

Lisle (1-0) @ Elgin St. Edward (1-0) - Lisle not only fielded a varsity football team, they showed everybody they know where the end zone is! Happy for them, but week two is come back to earth week. St. Eds 34 Lisle14

Manteno (1-0) @ Plano (0-1) - Amazing to me how far Plano football has fallen. Manteno takes the show on the road and wins comfortably. Manteno 38 Plano 12

Peotone (1-0) @ Marengo (1-0) - Marengo manhandled Streator. Peotone is not Streator. This should be a good one! Peotone 27 Marengo 21.

Ottawa (1-0) @ Streator (0-1) -Will Streets show up for their home opener?? Doubtful. CLOCK

Wilmington (1-0) @ Morrison (1-0) - The Cats show Morrison that having a game under your belt really makes a difference. CLOCK

Morrison not a powerhouse but play in a solid conference. Cats win by two scores.

Don't know what happened to Herscher last week....Bishop Mac played Wilmington close. Bishop Mac by a clock

Reed-Custer has a weapon on offense. Stop him and you win. St Teresa doesn't. RC 28 St 21

Streator gets clocked by Ottawa

St. Edwards brings Lisle back to earth by a lot

Manteno beats Plano 100 out of 100 times. Means nothing to the conference.

Peotone played a bad team last week and looked good! I'm not buying it. Morengo by 10.

Coal City beats Morris. Got a feeling!

CC returns Natyshok and Henline, and those two are arguably the two best offensive players in the league.

Morris looked beyond impressive vs Lemont. Maybe this isn’t the same Lemont from a few years ago, but Morris absolutely stomped them.

Morris is definitely the favorite.

Massey has Morris at -8. What does CC have on defense? Will this be a slugfest or a shootout.

It's only week 1, but I have questions on Morris' defense. Yes, the won big, but their first three TD drives started inside the Lemont 10 due to Lemont's special teams collapse. There was very little pass rush and at times Lemont was able to move the ball before they shot themselves in the foot. If CC is as fundamentally sound as I think they are then this game will be very interesting.

Lemont isn't what they used to be, the 2 teams they beat with winning records last year were TF North and Hillcrest.

Morrison plays in a solid conference but they've struggled since joining the NUIC. Wilmington as always will improve week to week. Wilmington by a few scores.

Herscher dropped a head scratcher. Looks like they were heading in the right direction last season but a loss to Canton isn't good. Mac played Wilmington tough and and has a few guys who can break a play at any moment. Mac by a clock.

St. Teresa had a huge win over QND. St. Teresa played a tough schedule last year and only lost a handful of starters. Even at 3-6 last year they would have finished top 3 in the ICE last season. They are definitely a sleeper team in 2A. St. T by 3 TDs.

Ottawa wins when the ball is kicked off.

Not sure what to make of Lisle, they always seem to hand it to Harvard and Harvard is not good. Lisle probably has a few kids they always do. No idea about St. Ed, which when you don't know a private school in Illinois football, they can't be that great. Lisle in slobberknocker 45-44

Manteno wins when they get off the bus.

Peotone over Eisenhower is no surprise. Never heard of Eisenhower and they are a big school but Marego is always a solid team. I would guess they have a good QB as they always do. Peotone grounds and pounds but seems to struggle vs. spread teams. Unless something has changed from previous seasons, Marengo by a TD.

Coal City and Morris should never not happen, too bad this is the last one until another conference breakup. CC always plays teams at any level tough and always find a way to hang around. Morris by 10+.

I doubt CC can stop the Morris offense.

If the game is close, I’d expect it to be more of a shootout.

I think CC is good, and would love to see them pull out a win, but I really wouldn’t be surprised if Morris won fairly comfortably.

Week 2 Games

St Teresa @ Reed Custer - I think this is a one score game that could go either way.

Morris @ Coal City - Coal City will play tough but fall by a couple of scores.

Herscher @ Bishop Mac - If Herscher had problems stopping Canton it will only get worse this week. Mcnamara by a lot.

Lisle @ St Edwards - Another pick em type game but Ill take the Lisle

Manteno @ Plano - Manteno

Peotone @ Marengo - Peotone

Ottawa @ Streator - Ottawa big

Wilmington @ Morrison - Cats will continue to get better each week. Defense was great last week. Wilmo with a shutout.

I think CC has to pull a page out of Wilmo playbook and keep ball away from Morris.
