ICE Power Rankings

1) Wilmington - Played a tough one against Manteno. Was surprised by this but still gotta hold them at 1
2) Coal City - No competition last week so no change
3) Manteno - The fact that they gave Wilmo a bit of a game was surprising, but also I think it's a solid case for them to be holding down the three spot. I'll be honest they didn't blow out Plano or Reed-Custer so I am still finding it tough to get a true gauge, but a win is a win and a tough game with Wilmo holds value too. No reason this team isn't 7-2 to finish the season out.
4) Peotone - Results as expected this week. Really the blow out loss to Wilmo is the only "blemish" on their resume thus far.
5) Reed-Custer - Lost to good teams so far and beat the bad ones. Will be down to the wire to clinch a playoff spot.
6) Lisle - Either Herscher has improved as the season progressed or we are seeing where Lisle really is. I figured it would be close but not that close. Either way this is where they will end up in the ICE. I don't see them losing to Streator so they can't be dropped.
7) Herscher - I know they are winless, but they are scoring points in their losses. Streator has scored all their points in one game that they ended up winning.
8) Streator - Something tells me I had to drop them. 0 points in all their losses. Still think they could be flipped with Herscher when it's all said and done, but I just don't have a good feeling about this team for the rest of the season.

Playoffs

Qualified - Wilmo, CC, Peotone, Manteno

Still alive - RC, Lisle

Still alive (mathematically, but won't make it because I see highly likely losses in their schedule) - Streator, Herscher


Week 6

Reed-Custer (2-3) @ Peotone (4-1) - I'm curious to see how this one plays out. If it's close I think that will say a lot about RC. However I think Peotone wins comfortably. Tone 35 RC 21

Manteno (4-1) @ Coal City (4-1) - GOTW! Manteno really impressed last week against Wilmo. Heard their RB is a load. CC RB is a load too. I think CC is now aware of Manteno and will be over prepared. CC 42 Manteno 28

Streator (1-4) @ Herscher (0-4) - Would be GOTW if you like bad football and the other one wasn't on the books. I moved Herscher up in the rankings for a reason. I don't know that Streator can score. Herscher is really bad too, but at least they had two close loses. I think this is a solid win for the tigers and sadly their last of the year. Herscher 28 Streator 14

Lisle (3-2) - @ Wilmington (5-0) - Wilmington returns with a vengeance for homecoming week. However many Reents wants. Wilmo 49 Lisle 14

Remaining games to watch for that have meaning

Week 8
Peotone @ Manteno - Route 50 Rumble. Both teams in the playoffs but really the only rivalry these two teams have is each other. Always a good one and two teams who will want that extra win for playoff seeding

Week 9
Lisle @ Reed-Custer - Although Lisle should get to 4 wins the prior week when they beat Streator, I see this as RC's needed game to get to 4. I also think these teams are pretty evenly matched

Wilmington @ CC - ICE championship being determined in the last week of the season..... Nothing more needs to be said. LFG

You’re rankings are spot on. Peotone n Manteno could maybe flip in the future. That will be decided in a couple weeks.

I think we’ll have 6 teams in the playoffs from the conference.

hate the new system but that’s who will be in.

In regards to playoffs and still alive category, Lisle is 3-2 so they are already in. Considering where they were last season, what a huge accomplishment for them. Can they beat RC or Streator or maybe both? Cool story. They only have like 18 kids playing. Impressive work from their coach.


Manteno/Peotone game is gonna be a bloodbath I feel like. Last year was one of the best HS games I’ve attended when they played each other.

CC/Wilmington, enough said.

RC/Lisle week 9 has me intrigued as well for some reason.

Gonna be interesting to watch these next few weeks.

I thought 4 was the clinching number and then 3 was like a handful of teams? I could be wrong.

If it's 4 for sure clinch I am not sure that RC gets in. That means they have to beat Lisle. I only see them beating Herscher as a guarantee win left on the schedule. I do think they should end up beating Lisle, but it's prolly like 60/40 if I had to guess

Week 6 finds Manteno and Peotone still jockeying for the #3 spot and there's a storm brewing in Herscher.. Can the Tigers get their first W??

Reed-Custer (2-3) @ Peotone (4-1) - My GOTW. The Comets are better than people think and usually play the Blue Devils tough, Peotone finds a way at home. Peotone 27 RC 26

Manteno (4-1) @ Coal City (4-1) - Manteno surprised some people last week, including themselves. Kudos to them, but it's tough to have your "A" game two weeks in a row against the cream of the conference. CC 42 Manteno 14

Streator (1-4) @ Herscher (0-4) - The battle in the basement. Reminds me of when Santa brought my brother and I boxing gloves for Christmas! The Tigers are due. Herscher 34 Streets 27

Winners

Peotone - 28-14 kind of game

Coal City - schedule makers did Manteno no favors with back to back games with Wilmington and Coal City.

Herscher - Toliet Bow In the Ice but Herscher gets 1st W of the season

The Devils should handle the Comets but historically they seem to struggle. They beat Streator and Lisle the past two weeks and that doesn't say much, they should beat them. RC played a close-ish game against Manteno but are really struggling to score. Peotone in a nailbiter 41-37

Manteno seemed to have played a decent game against Wilmington although it looks like the outcome was never really in question. Coal City has not played a challenging opponent since Morris. Manteno has played a tougher schedule and has shown they can score quickly but defense looks suspect. Coalers prevail 33-22.

The rivalry of Streator and Herscher, always a well-fought but weird game. Something goofy always happens. I expect Streator to light up the score board and get into double digits. Herscher is just not great at football right now it is what it is. But the winner will be on the driver's seat for 2nd to last on the conference also there is that. Streator 47 Herscher 45.

Lisle has shown some promise and should see a few more wins if they keep playing as they have and stay healthy. Wilmington is still doing Wilmington things, maybe not at the clip they did last season but still dominating their opponents on all aspects of the game. I don't see Lisle keeping it close. Wilmington 56 Lisle 12.
