If Beamer is the coach next year (regarding OL)

I am only half serious with this post. Actually, no I think I am really serious. haha.

So Beamer can recruit and is good at the transfer portal. We know that.

Just because I am absolutely sick of being a fan that year after years watches us have a completely substandard offensive line, I would like to see 90% of all of our NIL money go towards getting a great O Line for one year. So we will have no money left over for a top quarterback or skill players. Where has it gotten us this year with a top quarterback that SC paid a ton for??

I realize that the overall record may not be any better next year if we put all of the eggs (money) in the basket of the offensive line. But wouldn't it fun as a fan, just for one freaking year, to not watch a horrid offensive line??? Go out and pay the guys from Ohio State, Penn State, etc to come play at SC. I definitely think Shawn Elliott is good enough to coach them.

So if we are going to be 4-8 regardless, why not at least change it up and have it look different than watching running backs being hit in the backfield and QBs getting pressured all year. Maybe we have a mediocre QB but he gets some time in the pocket. And we have running plays that can actually pick up 2 yards instead of the running back getting consistently hit behind the line of scrimmage.

PS - I realize that Mike Shula is a lot of the problem. But let's be completely honest here. SC could have the best offensive coordinator in the business on the sidelines and it wouldn't have made the offensive line any good this year. They just aren't very good at football.

We do? What evidence supports that assertion?

I said this exact same thing on the insiders forum a while back. I think that post ended up being an attack Skuddy because he isn't donating to NIL.

However, I am right. If you don't have Nike money, spend what you do have wisely.

Didn't he have some players from the portal last year that were all americans and national award winners?

I am less willing to concede this as time goes on It's obvious to me the suckfest on offense was a team effort with Shula being a major contributor.

Honestly, you sort of have a point. Even a mediocre quarterback can win championships behind a great offensive line. Trent dilfer is a perfect example. Heck, Rex Grossman made it to the super bowl with the bears behind a good line.

The OL unit is not that good and whoever takes over this season isn’t going make a huge difference.

It’s the OL Coaches fault and he was fired. But it also rolls uphill to Shula and Beamer. They got complacent or something. We have a great QB, but a QB is just a piece of the puzzle.

Next season if Sellers leaves, we will probably be like Kentucky was this season….. or worse! 😱

Sellers is not ready for the pros.
he has great difficulty getting rid of the ball quickly.
on one play Saturday the TE was wide open in the end zone, sellers continued to hold the ball and the got sacked.
im not putting him down he is a great QB.
of course there were so many break downs on the OL which can disrupt a QB.
shula is a major problem!
I think Chad morris is available. Cant argue with what he did at clempson.

People need to accept that Sellers isn't a great QB. He is a great athlete who is playing QB. There is a reason he wasn't recruited heavily by the top tier programs. His other offers were from Syracuse, Georgia tech, Virginia, VT, Georgia State, Washington State, App State and Memphis. The big name schools did not have any interest in him.

An NFL team will draft him based on his physical ability, not his QB play in college.

It's so hard to evaluate him. Like most everyone else, I've been waiting for him to break out.

I think your point about the consistent breakdowns is relevant, though. I don't know the overall stats, but against LSU, Sellers was pressured on 70% of snaps when they DIDN'T blitz. That's insane. I don't know what the number is when you factor in pressures on blitzes, but probably 80% or more. When you're pressured that much, it's impossible to get any rhythm. Also, when you're pressured on 3/4 of more of all plays, even when you're not pressured, I think your decision-making is all screwed up.

It's hard to tell a QB "you're gonna get pressured on 14 of the next 20 snaps. You better be on it for the 6 snaps when you're not pressured."
