If I wasn't so SPS "cool" I'd change my name to Bench Hunter Hines

I had high hopes last night when he came to the plate with two on and one out. I felt it was HR time then he hits into a double play.

It's a problem. He's just a huge hole in the lineup right now, but I understand it's tough to bench a guy who has done what he's done and been loyal to his school.

But nobody has any confidence he's going to come through when he has the chance right now. He's clearly not confident in himself.

What makes it even tougher is he's a top notch defensive 1B and the drop-off to the next options is pretty big defensively.

Like I said, a problem. Be really nice if he just started hitting.

Problem is, outside of one AB at Auburn he was just as crappy all of last year. He isn't clutch at all and when you NEED him you can guarantee a strikeout or worst possible scenario like the double play last night. Continuing to play him can only be related to his NIL deal or something, because no sane coach would continue putting him in the lineup when someone like Frei is sitting with a .450 average

You should probably review our Vandy road series win if you think he was only clutch in one AB last year.

And there's a reason Frei is relegated to platooning and PH. He's a 17'n horrible fielder.

Maybe I'm thinking of Vandy. The 9th inning HR? Any way you shake it, he's the anti-clutch 99.99% of his ABs. Lemonis puts him right in a spot where you generally need him as well. If he's gonna play because you think he's a gold glove 1st baseman (literally lost one of the Texas games not even trying on a hot shot 2 feet to his right) then he needs to hit 8th.

People stand in front of me and I really can't see a lot from down here so I'm experimenting with a new " coach by ear" technique.

Hes currently got the best OPS in conference play than anyone other than Sullivan.

Might need to have a talk with Chance, Downs, Highfill, Kupp, and Stallman-- and the rest of the crew that padded their stats against the weak non conference schedule we play.
