Same exact message I used to reply to JCHILLTOPPERS in another thread. Reposting here in case he misses it. 6-classes. 192 teams. The good ol' days of Wednesday Night Lights!

Same 256 teams I used Monday.

The cut-off for 192 playoff teams in a 6-class system is 4-3, 39 pp. Hersey and Galesburg stay in the playoffs as conference champs. The last team in is Lincoln-Way Central. St. Teresa is the first team out at 4-3/36

I also removed St. Bede, Erie-Prophetstown, Mattoon, Limestone, St. Ignatius, Glenbard East, Schaumburg, Carlyle, Wesclin, Decatur Lutheran, Monmouth-Roseville, Grayslake North, Normal West, Pekin, Momence, Rockford Christian Life, Winnebago, Marion, Kaneland, Triopia, Milledgeville, Knoxville, St, Edward, Coal City, Mahomet-Seymour, Hillcrest, Lake Forest, Rock Island, Bolingbrook, Leroy, Warren Coop, Ashton-Franklin Center, Red Hill, Georgetown-Ridge Farm, Vandalia, Williamsville, Sullivan-Okaw Valley, North Boone, Hillsboro, Farmington, Wheaton Academy, Genoa-Kingston, Jacksonville, Woodstock North, Freeport, Belvidere, Guilford, Glenwood, Plainfield South, Astoria-South Fulton, Rockridge, ROWVA, Carterville, Alton Marquette, Quincy, Tremont, Auburn, Pleasant Plains, Fairfield, Herscher, Ottawa, Centenniel, and Niles North.... WHEW!!!

COMMENTS

6 classes sets up the rivalry in the west burbs everyone desires... 1st round!

8A and 7A have been equally strong in recent years. With 6 classes, the drop from 6A to 5A seems very large.

The last time we had 6 classes, where did Huntley fit in? 2A maybe? You've come a long way Sun City!

Maine South should be in there… I must've copied and pasted wrong with them… Let me figure out where they would be.

cool...I thought it might be the extra $200k of revenue derived from the extra 4 teams joining the party. At least they are doing it for the kids <SF>
I'm curious where you come up with this extra $200K number for adding the two new classes? Is that some estimate based upon extra gate fees??

Capn,

Hate to do it again, but changing from 6 to 8 classes added (2 classes x 32 teams/class) or 64 more teams to the playoffs.

6 classes = 192 playoff teams (and not all 6-3 teams are at large qualifiers)
8 classes = 256 playoff teams (and not all 5-4 teams are at large qualifiers)

back of the envelope 5k fans per team, 4 new teams, $10 per fan would make 5,000 * 4 * $10 = $200,000

Man alive!!!! I was doing the math for the State Finals.....so I guess the math is even more ridiculous...so I guess the figure is more like $450k based on $7 tickets for early rounds, $10 tix for the final with ballpark 5k fans per game and added 5k per each new final. Wow...IHSA likely saw the value in adding the 2 new classes

That may be an overstatement as lower fan volumes in early rounds, but still...significant new coin for IHSA
