... besides automobiles, houses, and boats, what would be your first big purchase?

State of the art home theater for me. Something so gaudy and big it's almost embarassing.

Buy a private island in the Caribbean and build a top level casino/hotel with nothing but hot chicks everywhere with a private airport. Serve all fresh seafood menus and amazing outdoor bars with topless area 🍺

A private island or a very rural place to get away from city idiots.

Private island sounds nice, but it seems like would be a long process.

Private island somewhere in the topics, just outside the hurricane/typhoon belt. Nothing elaborate in terms of a house. Maybe 2.5K sq foot. Nice kitchen, 3 BR, 3 BA, nice man cave w/ home theater, nice wrap around porch with a view, and a nice pool. Maybe somewhere in the South Pacific.

Man when I exclude homes, automobiles, boats.. and I'm adding planes to this as well.. hard to come up with some things. Almost everything I'd want would be vacations homes and nice rides.

Probably expand my bourbon collection.

I'd buy nice office space near me (maybe Saratoga) and use it just to get out of my "home" office for a bit. It would have some real nice furniture, view, etc.

Redo my kitchen. Viking, Jenn-air, etc appliances. New cookware. Le Cresuet, etc.

Outdoor bar. Sauna in my bathroom.

Twenty years ago, I'd have said a ski mountain. My knees won't take it now.

Lots of artwork. Remington sculptures would be high on the list. More enjoyable than most paintings. A few Picassos, El Grecos, & Monets.

-yep. Have a buddy with a hawker 850 (iirc). It really can't be overstated how much better it is than commercial flying.
I’ve always wondered how much upkeep and storage costs on something like that.

-has to be disassembled and rebuilt every so often(3-5 years? He told me but I forget) that's at least a million a pop. Was gonna have to buy a new windshield at 250k or so.

-raw flight cost is 2500 or so per hour... and that doesn't include maintenance.

^there is having money and having "plane money". It's wild.

-I would prolly do a net jets/charter share type thing tbh, 25-100k a pop seems like a better option... but I'm thinking like a normal person here.

If we include "homes" in this, definitely a ski house up in Vermont or maybe out west.

Lot of the "southern" mountains, like Hudson Valley NY and Pennlysvania ski mountains are in serious trouble if these are the types of winters were just going to get from now on. As soon as it's financially feasible (and as soon as I can convince my life), I'm getting a ski house or a condo up at like Stowe, Sugarbush or Stratton. These mountains could see a big spike if the southern ones start to close off.

Nothing better than a ski house during a blizzard. And many come with a sauna, so that crosses an item off my list .

I'd get a HUGE piece of property with a lake on it. Build me a nice shooting range on it. I can camp and fish and shoot whenever I wanted to. Eventually build a house and live on it. Yep. Sounds like Heaven on Earth to me.
