Every Monday, I bracket the 256 playoff teams using the IHSA Playoff Outlook. This is NOT a prediction. These are NOT my opinions. It is simply the most logical way the playoffs would be bracketed, using the IHSA's specific system, if today's standings were the final standings.

Each week I usually have to add/subtract teams to get a true 256. The Outlook doesn't adjust for the teams ineligible for the playoffs from the CPS "Chicago" conferences (teams who finish 3rd place and lower). The Outlook doesn't adjust for a conference champion falling below the cutoff. I take care of all that before proceeding.

My adjustments.....

I pulled the Mather Rangers, Orr Spartans, and Phoenix Firebirds out of the playoffs because of the CPS "Chicago" conference rule. Teams 254 and 255 are 4-4/39: East Dubuque Warriors and Belleville West Maroons.

At team 256, we have a 7 teams tied at 4-4/38.The third tie-breaker is total wins of defeated opponents. Those results were three teams: Wheeling Wildcats 12, Woodstock Blue Streaks 12, and Murphysboro Red Devils 12, eliminating the other four: St. Edward Green Wave 11, Peoria Heights Patriots 10, St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans 8 and Red Hill Salukis 7.

The 4th tie-breaker is head-to-head. None of the them played each other. The 5th tie-breaker is number of teams played that qualified for the playoffs. Wheeling Wildcats 4, Woodstock Blue Streaks 6, and Murphysboro Red Devils 4. Woodstock Blue Streaks is team 256.

From there, I adjust teams up and down into the proper classes to create 8 classes of 32 teams. My classes were 32-33-31-33-32-31-31-33 respectively. So.... St. Thomas More Sabres up to 2A, Frankfort Redbirds down to 3A, Morris Redskins down to 4A, and Auburn Knights down to 6A.

I don't see quads in the 2015 playoffs, and they aren't mentioned in "How the matchups are determined", so I'm not using quads unless I get new information. I'm using the Playoff Outlook updated at 10:47 AM on 10/17. I'm not making further adjustments..

I hope this is not a stupid question, but if Main West were to lose this weekend to Glenbrook North, would that lift Glenbard West from 7A to 8A? It looked to me that GW is at the cutoff point, but I could be wrong.

Okay... hope this helps. If Maine West (4-4, enrollment 2028) loses to Glenbrook North (7-1, enrollment 1997), it should NOT have any impact on Glenbard West. Glenbard West (2,307) is larger than Maine West. The 32 largest schools (that qualify) are in 8a. The next 32 are in 7a. Glenbard West could be bumped up to 8a if a few larger schools like Waubonsie Valley (2576) and Plainfield South (2593) are eliminated this weekend.

OK thanks that makes sense. I'm trying to see what would have to happen for GW to move up. Obviously I'm looking at the wrong end of the list. Think I'll just wait for Saturday night to find out.

The title is If the Playoffs Started Today.
They only take into account the current games that have already been played not the future.

Hey Chuck,

I called you a freeloader, not MCHS. The point is that the service, this site, and the board that Edgy sponsors is far from free to him. This site is his livelihood, would it kill you to pay a few dollars to support everything he does? Now let me be clear don't get mad at edgy he has nothing to do with my opinion on this topic. The issue is it costs money to run the site and in other parts of the country hosts like edgy have walked away because it was costing them money to run a site that was supposed to make them a living. If this site disappears it hurts everyone and it would be sorely missed. So if you're really gone because you won't spend a dime on a great information resource that allows you to exchange entertaining banter with fellow enthusiasts, then don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out!

Chuck998 - Just an FYI - The Soucie info from earlier this week is now posted on CSN so the projections are now free.

One of the benefits of having access to the paid side is that on Monday/Tuesday each week leading up to pairing nite - you can ask specific questions on a thread to Edgy/Soucie and ask specific "what if" questions. It's pretty cool - I asked one before last weeks games on a "what if" scenario.

I'm not trying to sell you anything. Free side is awesome as well - just pointing out a few of the benefits of the paid side and why some folks choose to pay a fee for access. With those benefits comes some responsibility and for the most part it is on the "Honor system"...If we were to share stuff that is on the paid side before Edgy decides to release it (or if he wasn't going to release it for free at all) - Whoever did that would have some explaining to do and might lose access. With that - I try to be very careful about keeping the two sides "separate" in my mind so I don't get a nastygram!!

#9 seed in 8A could get West Aurora on road week two and then home in quarters v #1 seed.

As I posted earlier this week loser of Loyola Rice could be better off....Naperville North in round two blows.

You could get a weekend of football consisting of Loyola at Brother Rice and HF at Marist on old Pulaski/Crawford Ave

I gotta believe the "free" board serves a purpose as a marketing tool for other paid, non-message board services and also promotion of Tim in his other media endeavors.

Last time I checked, setting up a subreddit was free. If the free message board is a money loser, my advice would be to shut it down.

Appreciate it. The CD debacle was an interesting game. We will see them again in the playoffs But without Micah as he transferred to a different school this past week.
