Anyone old enough to remember Petrino's hate for uk, and what he's willing to do to rub it in, would never suggest a win in that game.

@morgousky is on fire tonight. I think it's safe to say he had his whiskey before the game. While I agree with his overall point that our AD is an incompetent idiot, I'm not gonna bash the football program after a win. Even though it wasn't what I'd call a very good win. I just don't think Vandy is any good. They're just more awful than we are. Our defense, IMO, has improved exponentially.
Was he in rafters? I thought he was polishing his high school trophies. He "started" on a "state championship" team, if you weren't aware. You should check out his thread entitled "I started on a high school team that won a state championship so I'm smarter than everyone, have high expectations and am an Internet tough guy."

Hard to watch both teams play throughout the season and last night and not see Kentucky as being far more talented. The team aspect has been a work in progress but is now clearly better.
We beat a conference opponent by running straight at them, no passing and holding them out of the endzone. If we don't turn the ball over, it's at least a two score win.
Bottom line, this game was close because we let it be close, not because of Vanderbilts play. I'll always take the win but we can be quite a good team if we clean our play up.

Vandy played UF to 7 pts. We've been losing to Vandy before now. MSU is horrible.

They get worse by the week. Vandy can keep some games close with their D but they are the worst team in the SEC. You have to have a little offense to win a game. We have won 2 of the last 3 vs Vandy. We barely lost last year. What do you mean we have been losing to Vandy nefore now? You mean the James Franklin years? Because that team is no comparison to this Vandy. USCjr and Vandy are the worst teams in the SEC. Do we have a shot vs MSU? Yes. But you admit they are horrible too. We are beating teams our year 1 Stoops team could prbly beat. Some dont understand that this isnt good in year 4. Not even close. You can look at it anyway you want. But its the 2 worst teams in the SEC who we didnt exactly handle with ease. I have higher expectations than you. I am as big of a college fball fan as they come. And im tored of us being lapped and beaten by other teams with alot less to work with than we do (facilities, money, $ in coaches, recruits).
Southern Miss would not beat us now. That is the one game that has darkened everybody's mood about our team at this point. If we had won that game we would be in decent shape.

This is pathetic that people are defending our joke of a football program. We have no qb and our defense is far from a world beater. The D went from horrible to below average and the sunshine pumpers are screaming from the roof tops. Wait till we only win one more game this year and let's see the excuses they make up then.... Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we won, but I'm not fooled by a sloppy win against a crappy team.
Big picture is we still suck and have a HC who is unfortunately in over his head. Couple that with his undeserved extension and ludicrous buyout and the big picture is several more years of 3 or 4 win seasons

We are something like 9-7 against Vandy and 4-12 against South Carolina this century. Beating them has not been regular or easy for this program.
There's been plenty of times where the worst in the sec has beaten us, that isn't happening now. Everyone wants better but we are improving.

I ain't a sunshine pumper but I like to friggin' win. I am seeing improvement in this team. Did the 1st 10 qtrs of football this season suck, you bet, especially on D.
However, I have seen improvements in both the front 7 on D, and in the OL play, in the last 3 games.
I am not one predicting we will be winning the NC anytime soon, but if we can get some semblance of a passing game put together with Johnson, this team could be dangerous if we can be a complete football team on both sides of the ball, especially with improvement we are seeing on D.

They barely scraped by at home against the bottom of the barrel, nearly losing both. They've been beat by CUSA middle of the pack, dismantled by any real decent team they've faced.
We've got a very different view of "dangerous".
Oh, to be certain, I will join the chorus if we do not see the post-season in 2017. In fact, to be perfectly honest, this season could still go so poorly that I would welcome someone ponying up the cash to make change happen now. I am just not determined to see it happen yet, and frankly, don't expect that result. Sorry, but I'd much prefer seeing this team and staff grow and succeed. I am not going to spend the rest of the year taking a dump on everything and praying for failure so I can muse over who is a suitable replacement for Coach Stoops.

You do know that MSU dropped their opening game to South Alabama this season too, right?
Now the D was not playing at the same level against UF as it did against Bama or Vandy. Playing the old iffin' game, what if Stoops had the reins of the D all season, and we probably don't lose to USM, and UF coulda been a different outcome.
So if we were sitting at 4-2 with only losses to UF and Bama, what would your outlook be then? Where do we need to see more improvement to have a chance to go bowling?

First of all I never compare scores. There is absolutely no correlation between comparing scores and team quality. Alabama played extremely unusual for a saban offense. It is apparent to anyone who watches Alabama he was using the UK game as preparation for his QB. and I don't blame him. U.K. Had no chance at winning, and it's an in game opportunity to work some areas you think you're weak in.
The defense looks better with stoops in control, but it's what it is. I'm looking at the bigger picture. He's a mediocre or worse head coach. When you try and dissect a lousy team sure you can find improvements. But it's still lipstick on a pig.
If we were sitting at 4-2 with only losses to Bama and Florida, I'd definitely feel better. The problem is we aren't. We are 3-3 with losses to southern miss (who isn't any good) and our best win is against the worst team in the entire conference.
Stoops has had enough time to not have this many mistakes. We are giving him top facilities, a huge contract and insane buyout, players know we've invested, and he still is not cutting it.
I'm not interested in a .500 season. I'm interested in hiring a guy to make us compete for the east. We've got the resources. If you're someone who is hoping for a .500 season, I'd say your expectations are horrible for an SEC program.
When you only have one good dimension you'd be smart to practice it and make it the best it can be. You want to pass more? Become "air raid"? LOL
