Will his approach to roster makeover serve as a pattern for other new coaches taking over poor performing programs? It’s a copycat sport so I can see new coaches adopting the strategy. Just come in and get rid of most of the returning players.
Irrelevant for most schools. Most schools that stink aren't capable of turning over their roster with top talent in one season. Will his approach to roster makeover serve as a pattern for other new coaches taking over poor performing programs? Bingo. It’s really impressive what he was able to do in a matter of months.Irrelevant for most schools. Most schools that stink aren't capable of turning over their roster with top talent in one season.
Why not?Irrelevant for most schools. Most schools that stink aren't capable of turning over their roster with top talent in one season.
Well, he hasn’t done it yet.I think Neon Deon worked magic here. Has a Head Coach has ever took a completely neglected program and turn it around this fast? I don’t think so. But Coach Prime says Yea, watch this.
It CAN be done
Pretty simple. Let's say the gamecocks stink. We hire a Lou Holtz type. He turns over the roster. No way he brings in enough top talent to make us competitive right from the start. It will take time.Bingo. It’s really impressive what he was able to do in a matter of months.
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.I think Neon Deon worked magic here. Has a Head Coach has ever took a completely neglected program and turn it around this fast? I don’t think so. But Coach Prime says Yea, watch this.

Agreed. Very difficult schedule. That said, I'm pulling for him to get 6 or 7. I think he's good for college football. If he can win 4 games this year that would be considered progress.
The vast majority of players he brought in from the portal were 3* or lower. There were a few upgrades, but the majority of it was just him getting specific players he wanted. Most of them were trading three stars for three stars.Pretty simple. Let's say the gamecocks stink. We hire a Lou Holtz type. He turns over the roster. No way he brings in enough top talent to make us competitive right from the start. It will take time.
There is only one prime time! One of only a couple coaches that could make this work.
Mixed in with a good many experienced 4 and 5 stars. Keep in mind, they are not playing in the SEC.The vast majority of players he brought in from the portal were 3* or lower.
Colorado will win more than 4 games. He went out and got a quality OC and his son is a good QB. I’m impressed with both of them. Win or lose this game, Colorado will be better than people think, IMO.If he can win 4 games this year that would be considered progress.
We have to admit that it’s pretty remarkable that he took Colorado and cleaned house enough during just the off season- that Colorado is now leading a team at half time that played in the NC last year. That fanbase has to be happy.Well, he hasn’t done it yet.
Hunter is Deions Deion. Ironic he’s wear 12 for Coach 21Travis Hunter is a baller. And a lot of programs wanted Shadeur Sanders, us included. I think they’ll get to a bowl.
Give me a break! One data point does not make a trend. We have no idea at this point if CU is thay good or TCU is that bad.Solid debut for CU.
But, man, TCU has fallen hard after last season. Not impressed with Briles offense. Guess they’re about as good as we saw against UGA.
TCU is very obviously not as good as last year. Not even close.Give me a break! One data point does not make a trend. We have no idea at this point if CU is thay good or TCU is that bad.
That goes two ways. The school brand can carry that clout as well. Deion is not the only one capable. I also disagree it will not be the norm. No different than mlb or NFL. Clean house and get better talent suited for your schemes. What Deion is doing is not and will not be the norm. Getting the attention of a player is a lot easier when your name is Deion Sanders than it is for 99.9% of other coaches.
Nope. I was surprised mostly by how bad TCU looked. They wanted to prove last year was no fluke and that it wasn’t all Max Duggan. Mission not accomplished. No defense on either side
It would have been very interesting to see Holtz manage the portal in his first year. I mean I kinda think he'd probably show a little more loyalty to the players already here for the most part, but still it would have been something to see if he did embrace the portal. I imagine a lot of players would have flock to him. Pretty good salesmanPretty simple. Let's say the gamecocks stink. We hire a Lou Holtz type. He turns over the roster. The truth is, they were not a playoff quality team last year either. They climbed in the rankings by beating teams that ultimately proved to be pretty bad but were ranked at the time they beat them. They made a name for themselves in the month of October when they beat 4 straight top 25 teams.Solid debut for CU.

You are correct. I would go a little farther and say they didn’t belong in the playoffs. That title game was an embarrassment. The truth is, they were not a playoff quality team last year either. They climbed in the rankings by beating teams that ultimately proved to be pretty bad but were ranked at the time they beat them. They started the run by beating #18 Oklahoma. Oklahoma then lost 5 of their next 8 games.
Then the beat #19 Kansas. Kansas went on to lose 6 of their next 7 games.
Then they beat #8 Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State went on to lose 5 of their next 7 games.
Then they beat #17 Kansas State who actually went on to have a good season by defeating TCU in the Big 12 title game.
I give them credit for finding ways to win all of their games (until they didn't) and for upsetting Michigan in the playoff, but TCU was not really an elite team last year. And they certainly don't look like one so far this year either.
Actually that league they are (were) in has ever been noted for defense. No defense on either side
I agree here. I’ve always thought whoever hires him is striking gold. Dude convinced 4/5 talent to go to a HBCU in Jackson, MS. They can’t even get clean drinking water there. It’s terrible. Norvell better make the playoff this year! Prime would be a major problem at FSU.What Deion is doing is not and will not be the norm. Getting the attention of a player is a lot easier when your name is Deion Sanders than it is for 99.9% of other coaches.
TCU was extremely lucky last year. Then they lost all of their impact players. I can’t figure out why they were even ranked preseason.Nope. I was surprised mostly by how bad TCU looked. They wanted to prove last year was no fluke and that it wasn’t all Max Duggan. Mission not accomplished.
