Even if not UK should be at least picked to finish second in the SEC East by some of the mags.

the bowl opponent will not be a current T25 team so I don't think a win gains us much traction. My hunch is we open around 35 or so.

With a solid D, a stable of backs, and a proven QB, they certainly should be!! not to mention a great offensive line, and very respectable receivers. That's the recipe for a heck of a team!!

I am not sure you can call us a solid D. We are sitting at 90 in total defense and 87 in scoring defense. Not exactly solid. The offensive is much improved this year as are special teams but the defense, not so much.

The Georgia Tech and Louisville games will be the last memories voters have of Kentucky. That combined with a BOATLOAD of returning starters will get them some votes. If they beat Tech, they could definitely sneak into the top 25. They'll definitely receive some votes.

We'll be receiving votes...if we were an established school we'd be in there, but as always we have to prove ourselves. As long as we keep building on the previous successes little things lile this will come along.

With a solid win I think we may get some recognition. But unless Stoops brings in a quality, proven DC true football experts are going to see our weakness and they will have to be convinced by our play on the field before casting a good vote for us.

With all our returners on defense and steady improvement in my opinion we will be a very solid defense next year. I believe the Question was for next year?

I think this is correct,a win in the bowl game is a big deal in multiple ways it gives recruiting a quick boost at just the right time of year, improves the morale of the team and keeps us on the mind of the pollsters come the start of next year(maybe it helps keep the coaching staff intact just to be around to see what happens next season)

Depends on whether Stoops keeps coaching the defense. If he does the defense will continue to improve.

Looking at the schedule we should move into the top 25 fairly quickly if we don't start there. Our schedule next year is extremely back loaded. We get 3 cupcakes, two lower tier SEC East teams and Florida to start off with, which gives us a great shot of being at least 5-1 by the mid season break. But then its a murders row left with probably a very good Vandy team being the "easiest" game left.

So getting into the T25 should be fairly easy but staying there may be a much bigger challenge.

Once again, our biggest concern will be depth on Defense. If we can get some JUCO DTs for D-Line we should be a really solid team and play with anyone in the SEC. We need more depth on D.

Perhaps he could bring in a proven DC. Maybe someone like Mark Stoops.

There you go. Wouldn't you be embarrassed if you were Eliot knowing your head coach had to take over the defense to save the season? We can spin it all we want but our defense is poor when left to Eliot. Coach Stoops recognized that and did something about it. I don't expect us to be 1977 or 1978 good but we should at least be Jerry Claiborne good. We are far from either. The offense is headed in the right direction now and is exciting and capable. There is no reason the defense can not be also. Things are as positive for our program as they have been in several years As a fan I want the momentum to continue.

The defense has most of the pieces, and showed they could be pretty good but very inconsistent. Like someone else said, bring in a good JUCO DT or two who can contribute immediately and get the coaching worked out, and they should be solid Not sure Stoops wants to keep being DC, nor that he will be prepared to replaced Elliot, so seeing how he handles that situation is going to be interesting. Def don't want to start the season with another loss to USM :/

A Jerry Claiborne caliber D would be nice. Heck, even a better John Goodner level D would be good enough with the offense coming back to have a pretty good season.

Probably not top 25 but could be, def will get some votes if we're coming off a bowl win.

Maybe, I see your point but just being older doesn't necessarily mean we will be much better. I would have to see improvement on the field before I can call them solid. Frankly, I think it depends on if we go out and hire a real DC or not. If we do I think we could see a real turn around. It worked on the offense.

Not just all the returning guys, but a bunch of RS players coming online as well. I don't think we'll sniff the preseason top 25. You have to earn that. But I think next years team could potentially win 10 games. Do that, and they'll be ranked for sure.

I don't think we will see Top 25 until we prove our self. Not many people believe UK can play consistent, good football. Hoping we will prove some of the naysayers wrong.

Doubtful, for must football pundits we are nothing more than an afterthought. We will have to earn their respect during the course of the season.

That schedule is crazy for a UK fan. I think they will be favored in all but 2-3 games realistically.
I am already saying they beat Fla. Only sure dog will be to Fla early, UT is usually favored but not sure next year. I say the hardest game next year might be Miss. St. and UGA and Vanderbilt all road games. We could honestly be even or favored in just about 80% of our games. Get a load of this schedule. The 50/50 games would mean I my book 9 wins. This schedule is set up to make a run.
So. Miss- W
EKU- W
S. car-W
Fla-win
E Michigan- W
Mizzou- W
Miss. St after buy week 50/50, we are equal but away, Mullens seems to have our number, buy week before
UT-Win
Ole Miss- 50/50 Think UK wins at home
Vanderbilt 50/50
Ga- Loss Away game only reason I say this.
UL- 50/50 but think we will be favored, think we are getting ready to make nice little run on them.
